| So I have always wondered about mail order brides. Google is very vague on everything and all the websites don't really seem legit. Its completely legal isn't it??? If it was up to me, I'd get me a Russian bride... MMMMMMM |

Haven't you read the stories here where the "bride" waits to get her green card, divorces and brings over her boyfriend? The Asian variation is they make you bring their whole family over (parents, siblings, cousins, aunts & uncles too).
Good luck. Go to Canada and find a Canadian. Ask Target-Target for advice, but not FTC. FTC has crabby (but hey, she's good at shoveling snow).

My buddy has a Philippeno bride and she is cute...very nice girl. Couple of the wife's family has married Philippeno women and two of them.are are happy. The third got.divorced and is over there again looking for a new bride. The old bride took more than half is shit, well into six figures and he got left with a lot of her debt... |

I knew a guy who imported a Russian, she inflicted IIRC 80K
in damages to his house. After Stateside importation, she racked up 30K in credit card charges in one month. He cut up the credit cards. While in her temper tantrum, she then proceeded to drive the Bronco through the garage, and through the house. IMHO the ONLY reason to ever get Married is if it's your life's dream to have children. Other than that... don't bother.

| I had a work friend that I usually saw about once a month. He suddenly shows up with a young Russian bride, and tries to convince us all that they had been dating and fell in love. We were like.... No Way Dude. They are married less than a year...she divorces him and starts a lesbian relationship with one of our other friends wife....which causes those two to divorce as well. |

Not recommending "mail order" brides, but as a general rule foreign women are a far better bet than American. The American factory default is spoiled, angry, entitled feminist. It's a revelation to visit other countries and see women who are happy being women. |

I married a Russian woman from Estonia (met the old fashioned way while in stationed in Germany), and have been happily married for 13 years.... Because of her Russian language, I have met a few Russian language wives, some of which would be considered "mail order"...... Some were happy, others were not..
Generally, if its a 19 year old marrying a middle aged American man, hilarity ensues. Generally, it comes down to a 19 year old girl (no matter where she is from) wanting to be a 19 year old girl, and an American man that is over controlling. If they are similar age, and in the same "league", then they are happy. Even with a language barrier. My experience is that Russian women are generally a little bit more old fashioned... |

My wife is from Ukraine, I met her on the internet (but not through a service, or marriage broker), I traveled there several times, we got married there, and suffered through the legal immigration process. So I think I know a thing or two about the topic. There is no thing as a mail order bride. I never set out to marry a foreign woman, it just happened that way. If you had asked me, before I met her, if I'd ever do this kind of thing, I'd have laughed right in your face. Women are women, no matter where they are from. They all want the same things out of life, just some want more than others. Choose wisely, the restocking fees are a real bitch. I would have married my wife, if she were American/Russian/Thai, it's not about where she is from. That being said, some women from foreign countries are really great people, my wife has traditional values, loves family above anything else, and appreciates traditional gender roles. I don't think I'd ever trust a marriage service, and I'd probably not do the K-1 fiancee visa route, but that's just me. Go there, meet, and spend time with her, and her family. And they really don't want a guy thats 20 years older. 15 or so is probably tops. Rules, I know..
