Started trying to learn how to play guitar about 3-4 weeks ago and thanks to some advice given here and some determination, I feel like I'm making progress. Over the years I've actually owned an acoustic, a bass, and an electric guitar. I'd come across one in a trade or a deal and it would just sit there because I had no idea where to begin and largely because I wanted to be able to play a song immediately (I still do but I'm better able to discipline myself to learning and only then goofing off the last 10-15 mins of my practice) Well I'm really enjoying the time I spend practicing and I listen to music all day in my office and try to really pay attention instead letting it just be background noise. Right now I'm using my son's cheap Turser and an old pyramid amp. I picked up the combo for $50 and while it is really not a very good setup, I plan to get my hands on a Michael Kelly Patriot after I recover from my wife's Christmas shopping  So thanks for the pointers everyone, I'm happy we have a music forum now and hopefully one day I can point some stuff out someone else just starting out.
