one of the few redeeming moments of the movie. don't get me wrong--i own 'serenity'. but other than a few great moments, it just didn't belong as the ending for FF. above all, FF was joyous--it was really about love more than anything else. serenity came across like whedon had just gotten dumped, was feeling sorry for himself, and hated everyone.
'serenity' is to FF as 'mostly harmless' is to the rest of hitchhiker's guide. "you know how great the last one was? well this one shits all over that one. fuck you for reading." give me 'out of gas' any day. |

I enjoyed the film, and don't share your feelings on it, other than agreeing that the show was better. Considering the circumstances, it did what it could do. At least fans got a resolution and learned about the mysteries. Some shows get cancelled and just disappear. The whole "franchise" (such as it is) was great: surly veterans; shootouts; crime capers; space zombies; humor; and realistic, likable characters all wrapped up with some interesting historical symbolism and pretty girls... it couldn't be much better. |
