Where can I find the laws for being a firearm manufacturer?  Ive googled it but came up with nothing.

Can you have another company produce parts for you?  Or do you have to machine and produce all the parts yourself?

If you're talking about an AR you can buy all the parts save one - the lower receiver. That you can buy completed to 80% - do a Google seach for 80% AR Receivers and you'll find plenty of information. You can't make a weapon you can't own. I've made four 80% receivers now including two .50 BMG ones.

you can farm out everything but the final 20% of the work on the receiver or frame, at least thats what I've gleaned from the ATF website while doing research for a business class project

whats the age limit?  Do you have to be 21 to manufacture or produce rifles, or only pistols.  I might have read over it somehow but I couldnt find anything on that subject.

One that you intend to offer for sale? Or would it be for your own use?

For sale.

For sale requires you to be a registered firearms dealer, I believe.

For personal use, you don't need to be licensed.

The intial start up fee runs in the nieghborhood of $10,000. Renewal isn't cheap either.

Is this for type 7 ffl and sot 2, or just type 1 "semiauto" items?

Also, I beleive you have to make and sell a certain number of firearms per year.

Can't remember. I know when I was working at Barrett, when the renewal came in, it was talked about how much of a hit it was.

Ya, I have semi-auto only in mind.

So just to start up a small firearms buisness you need at least 10K?

[#15]
You are going to need more than that. Count in a shop to work in, power use, tools, business licencse in your location, capital to buy your first round of parts to build with.
You're going to need a lot more than 10k to start.

Ya I figured that it would cost alot.

But is that 10k just to play nice with the ATF and get permission from them to be a manufacturer?  Sort of like the $200 tax stamp for class IIIs?
