If all 8 were able to do so that speaks more on the crappy detection software than the ability for a box to defeat it. That being said, boxes win all.
As explained in the book, the AI system was trained to spot humans walking and running, not people doing somersaults or hiding in boxes. So these fairly simple and childish tactics worked and fooled the AI. |

We spend a couple decades training our brains. Here we see some of the limitations of computers.
