Gentlemen,
first, let me say that you all have my admiration, and that i take every opportunity to shake your hand when i see a Marine. I am shipping on Sept 7 for MCRD-SD, and am really just wondering if anyone has any advice, or tips that are more specific than the "Start running" or "wow that will suck" answers that i commonly get when i bring up boot camp. I enlisted for 03, infantry, but i was told i could transfer to security forces after i do two years of infantry. I also snagged a nice 4K bonus for doing absolutely nothing! so thank you Marines for messing up my jobs! Anyways, if there is anything you feel i should know, please share, i like to be prepared! and thank you again for your service. Brian (I didnt want to put this in the deployed section, as im not a Marine just yet, and i dont want to take their place on these forums) |

When the drill instructor says "I need a volunteer" your fucking hand better be the first one up, every time. It's going to suck, whatever it is... but one day, it might be something fucking cool. ALWAYS volunteer for shit. Be louder than everyone else, don't clean on your ass, scream at that airplane, and go touch my fucking tree. ![]() |

Backbacking (a lot, started well before I contracted) in the Cascades really helped build my stamina for Mt Mother. Lean in, keep moving, don't stop until you are told to. JJDIDTIEBUCKLE http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/usmc/leadership_traits.htm |
