I just finished it. Wow, I think it was better than the original in just every way.

I got Tali and Grunt killed.

I took the Illusive Man's advice. I decided not to destroy the Collector base and use it to defeat the Reapers later.

I just got ME3 free with a new xbox 360 with Kinect. Haven't even taken it out of the plastic yet, guess I'll have to tomorrow to see what the fuss is about.

Just replay the ending and you can get everyone to live. I am playing ME3 right now with my imported save but I am thinking about quitting because all the endings are horrible and contradict certain main aspects of the game.

You need to fully upgrade the shields, guns, and armor on the Normandy as well as choose a couple of different specific squad mates for the special tasks like Legion (I always choose him) or tali in the tunnel, Garrus (I always choose him) or another leader to lead 2nd squads since they have leadership experience, Samara (I choose her) or Jack for the biotic shield (since they are powerful). Anybody can escort the crew back to the ship and live IIRC. I always blow that base to hell.

I loved mass effect 2, except for the parts when you had to mine for ore.

Just finished me2 for the second time. Great game. I've heard the bad about me3 so I'll wait for it to be $20. Play through as an asshole, it's more fun that way.

definitely replay, you want everyone alive for the third game. There are some of the best character moments ever in gaming and you do not want to miss them.

This, finish Tali and Grunt's loyalty missions. There are some really good parts with them in ME3, especially Tali.

I just started playing ME 1.  I thought 3 looked pretty good, but hadn't played 1 or 2.  So far 1 seems kind of boring.  I"m only an hour or so into it.

The story was shittier. Someone described it as being apart of a flying mental asylum in space. I agree with them, out of all of the characters only 1 or 2 were not weird in some way. The ending was anti climatic and dull compared to ME1.

SPOILERS:

ME1s ending = The Reapers are coming.
ME2's ending = The Reapers are coming.
ME2 Arrival = The Reapers are stilling coming.

Though I did enjoy the game a lot anyways. I have ME3, and I'll probably play it eventually. The co-op (which it essentially requires you to play) is boring as shit though. It is made to milk people for micro transactions.

You have to do the following:

1) Do all of the Normady's upgrades.
2) Make sure you do everyone's loyalty missions.
3) Make sure everyone is loyal. Sometimes the characters fight and they loose loyalty depending on what you say. Jack did this in my game and it got Tali killed. I wanted Jack to die, but it didn't work out as planned.

This. ME1 was a great game.

I would suggest picking up Deus Ex Human Revolution while you are at it. It is on sale for $17 on Steam I think right now. It is one of the best games I have played since ME1.

I picked Jack's side. Miranda never got loyal again.

Don't know, sometimes it is unavoidable. One of my characters had that issue, and that is how Tali (and not Jack) died. My other character has all of the characters, though the crew is missing.

I would get The Shadow Broker, Arrival, and if you have money left Overlord. The first two I listed affects ME3. How much I am not sure as I have not started playing it.

There's a Mass Effect wiki on the 'net, just do a search and you'll find a complete walkthrough for every part of the game.

Personally I do a clean (no look at any guide) play through on my first time around for any RPG like Mass Effect, Fallout 3 or Dragon Age and then check the wiki on subsequent playthroughs to get all the missions.  It sucks when I find out about entire missions that I didn't get to play because of my stupidity.  In my first run through ME2 I had no idea you could "romance" any of the other characters, despite the hints section saying "you should talk to people because there isn't much chance for romance on the job" or something like that.
