Ok...I have been programing CNC mills for about 7 or 8 years now all by hand. Just me and the machines. We got mastercam about a month ago and I have been taking private lessons at my shop with the local boces machining teacher(my boss did not want to pay the 2 grand to send me to mastercam school). I am good at the drawing part but getting the tools to do what I want is another thing. Lets say i want to make a counterbore.....I drill the hole in the center and then I program the c'bore but mastercam won't let me start the endmill in the center where my hole already is. In my non-mastercam world I would drill the hole and then rapid my endmill down and start my c'bore. Mastercam want to start on the edge of the c'bore. Its driving me crazy. My boss gets mad when I tell him I could have been done already programing at the machine. I need to be able to start my tools where I want. Is there anything online that could help me out?

Look on the contour parameter page, in the lower right hand corner you will see a box that is labeled lead in/lead out. Check that and open , you can adjust the number values to start where ever you want. If you want to move perpendicular all of the values in the arc box should be at 0.
hope this helps

What version are you using?  I'm thinking X4 if you just got it.

What toolpath are you using to counterbore?  IIRC, circlemill has a box you can check for start at the center.  Contour, ramp will start at the outside and ramp down, kind of a helical mill, but you can turn on lead in/out and radius on to start in the center.

IMHO, mastercam sucks to learn, and has lots of non-user friendly features.  Their help menu is ass, any manuals I've seen don't go into enough detail to help any.  I learned mostly by trial and error, very time consuming.  And I learn new stuff everyday.

emastercam.com has some pretty decent forums though.

Backplot everything before you try to run it in the mill, learn how to use verify also.

We are using x4 mill level 1. Backplot was 1 of the first things I learned to use. I sent my first program out to the machine today so I will let you all know how it went. Thanks for the help.
