Lets say I want to combine 5 of the 2pound packs into a single container? accounting for the 5 packs of ammonium and the 5 of aluminum, what volume am I looking at? |
|
Quoted: Buckets hold about 5 lbs per gallon. A 5 gallon Homer bucket holds 26 lbs of tannerite, which is enough to attract multiple law enforcement agencies when detonated in Eastern PA. Attached File |

Ya, I heard it too. Them fellers over in the other holler doin' that foolishness all the day and night. Go ever and tell them boys it's spookin' the Amish horses. Why, just last week I had 3 of 'em come over my side of the fence. Took all afternoon to get 'em in the trailer- guess them old fashioned horses never seen the inside of a trailer. 'Course, I did get a nice pie for fetching some of 'Zeke's ponies back. |

Quoted: We've done a well dried 2 Liter bottle and the Big Gatorade Jugs with a stick on target circles. Far as I can tell, you just need something (not glass or metal) that's real air tight and not flimsy like a Pringle's can for best effect.. Quoted: about how many "pounds" of tannerite 0.5, 1, and 2 pound packages did it take to fill a 2liter bottle? Some guys flirt the distance you need to be to shoot that. I would not. I'd strongly recommend 350-400+ yards, maybe more with cover. I think we shot it with a .308. I don't know if I'm buying it, but I was told that much tannerite was was equivalent to 5+ sticks of Dynamite, pressure wise.. I've never seen real dynamite set off anywhere near watching distance, so I have no real frame of reference, but its no joke. |

First experience with tannerite was a bottle about the size of a decent shampoo bottle. Whatever it was sold in. My first look at it and I thought they were “knowledgeable” about it. We were about 40 yds out when the guy popped it with a .308. It was sitting on top of an old shot up propane tank. Big bang, whump felt thru the body, blew dirt everywhere and the metal collar of that tank went whooshing overhead. Hol-eeee shiiit. Stand off distance is a thing. You can zoom in closer when filming. From a distance. |
| A few years ago I bought 50 lbs of tannerite. I wish I could shoot a few pounds per year but it's illegal in Ohio and we have to follow all laws. I have heard that a gallon milk jug filled is the perfect size to make people wonder what the hell just happened but not enough to get a deputy to come investigate. |

Quoted: I've found anything over about a single serving soda bottle size is mostly wasted unless you provide containment. In which case, you're kinda making a bomb. A soda bottle size is plenty of bang, anyways. The problem with most AN based compounds is that it's so slow that it will scatter some before the shock wave can propagate through the whole charge. This is exacerbated as charges get larger. A safe way to mitigated this is to wrap your charge in a bunch of duct tape. It should hold things together for an extra millisecond and allow more of the charge to detonate. I'm not an expert though. That's just something I heard that seemed to work when I tried it. I also heard that it helps significantly if you grind the AN prills to a flour consistency before mixing. AN is very hydroscopic, though, so you want to use it ASAP after grinding. |

Quoted: Its been a minute, but it seems like about 3.5 - 4 LBS total once it settled and packed. Some guys flirt the distance you need to be to shoot that. I would not. Quoted: I doubt anyone will ever top the dump truck of tannerite set off with a 50bmg a little too close to the Grand Prairie nuclear reactor. There were many chuckles and harrumphs that day I can tell you I still tell that story from time to time. If you are going to break the law might as well go big. |

Quoted: There was a nice quiet spring day when the WAHTF filled a 58 at tub, parked it atop a hill and a skinny little 18 year old girl launched on her third round, offhand, with an iron-sighted Mosin at 168 yds. Twas epic. |

Quoted: That was my first thought too; I'd read that it was a full 2000 pounds of Tannerite in the back of that dump truck. If anyone can find that story please post it here, haha. Quoted: Maybe if you melt cast the AN, but I don't think that this is accurate for tannerite as most people use it. I don't think you are squeezing even 1 pound into a 16 fluid ounce bottle. Quoted: Quoted: 1.725 g/cm3 for AN, 1.0 for water, so a 16oz bottle will hold #1.725 Maybe if you melt cast the AN, but I don't think that this is accurate for tannerite as most people use it. I don't think you are squeezing even 1 pound into a 16 fluid ounce bottle. I'd say about a pint, maybe just a little more for 2 pounds ??? Don't have any on hand at the moment, but we disposed of the stack of Halloween pumpkins with 2 pounds. |

It was Prarie Island plant in MN, and 100 lbs, not 2000: https://www.republicaneagle.com/news/authorities-consider-charges-in-blast/article_c6993401-5a0c-53ff-af70-561aa2dacd5f.html ![]() CNN Tannerite Video of MN Dump Truck Explosion @Skopsko07734 |

I found an old cylindrical jug that was used to hold protien powder. Its 7.25" tall by 6" wide so fairly symmetrical. The lid is nearly the full width as asll which is good. I measured with water and its right at 3.2liters. Using 1.8g/cc thats just under 13lbs of tannerite so we'll be doing that right when 2026 hits. Ill record from the ground and from a drone. Shot will be with a 7mmPRC from about 150y |

You guys thinking about 5 Gal buckets Some of the frag will be around 2" in size and they are quite capable of making a car radiator leak from further away than you might suspect. I've a hunch it was just very unlucky. ... but still. Also, you jokers thinking about using dead kitchen appliances. You've never had a worse idea. I'm just going to stick the the safe stull. Only flash powder for me. ![]() |

A soda bottle size is plenty of bang, anyways. I must be the only person who thought small tannerite charges were a letdown compared to the money spent on them? How important is it to be packed tightly? I've mixed a pound at a time in the supplied jars, it blew up but wasn't any more impressive than a nearby shotgun blast. |
Here's the barn one I was thinking of. Found it on yotube again. Says it's 164 lbs. ![]() 164lbs of Tannerite Kills a Barn |
