| Whats the point of having a membership? $24-100 a year? There are free photo and email services, and those are the only benefits I see different for the higher cost memberships. And only a few actual usable benefits from a bronze membership. Is it worth the cost? |

Is it worth the cost? apparently it is to some people, and once I get a job again I will probably get one as well. however grad school is my priority right now. and there are ways around the search and subscription limitations. just no way to view botd eta: IBTL as well |

All the benefits are listed here. Decide if it's worth it for you or not. It's perfectly okay to stay as a free member... or so I keep telling myself. |

I think many of us feel like supporting the best site on earth. Sure, they make money on adverts but all in all, the meager $24 bucks is a drop in the bucket for the expense of running the site. Some of us have even gifted memberships to others, and some of us wear our AR15.com tee shirts proudly, too.
The money is more than worth it...even the subscription button is worth it. JMO HH |

For some of us, it's a way to say "Thank you" for the site, and contribute to its maintenance and upkeep so that it's still here when we want to visit. +1 This place has saved me, one way or another, WAY more than $24 Hell no. Do you have any idea how much this site has cost me!? |
|
I figure this site saves me more than $24 a year. (Or it costs me a shit-ton more than that in "I need to have that". I can't tell.) Least I can do is support the workings, grease the wheels. Team-only stuff is pretty cool too.
It'll be hard for you to tell at <50 posts and 1 month into membership, but it is worth the price. You might hold off until you're sure you feel like you'll get something out of it. GD is a rough place, the tech forums would probably make you feel like it was more valuable. For me, I'll re-up come April.

1. Support the site 2. LaRue giveaways 3. Vortex giveaways 4. AR15.com member giveaway Note- Don't join for BOTD...you'll be disappointed. Join to support the site. GD aside (which is as hilarious as it is informative) the tech forums are a boundless source of information. If you can't afford $2 month to be a team member, well, ask yourself how many hours a week you spend here. |

It's a donation. Think of it like donating to PBS - you're not really buying a $100 book or DVD with your "membership", they just throw it in as a thanks. If all you wanted was the book or DVD, you'd buy it elsewhere much cheaper. And so it is here. It is now, and will always be (according to the owners) a free site.

Quoted: Subscribe and search features are well worth the $24, imo. Everything else is just a bonus. This. As someone who just reuped about 20 minutes ago i will say that you don't really see the appeal until you've had it for a year and then it's gone. Every year i say im not going to sign back up and every year after about two weeks i break. ETA: Just thought of something else. The value of the stuff I've won/just been given far exceeds what I've spent on memberships. Not that great a reason to join but it's just something that struck me as funny in an odd sort of way. |

I'm probably one of the few that has improved my job and income in the past few months. I just hate wasting money on stupid shit. Although, I have spent more money on dumber things before. Might as well give it a try. Spend more time in GD than I do looking at AR stuff though. |

With bronze you don't get photo or email either. Just avatars, search, etc... Well worth it. For one thing, your avatar gives you an identity on here so other users can recognize you. |

some sections are only available to paying members (should see the "babe of the day" they have a thread involving bacon and girls that would otherwise be naked if it weren't for the awesome power of bacon). plus it gives you a sense of ownership. there are a lucky few (including me) who have had a membership gifted to them by a kind individual.
ETA and you can subcribe/tag threads for future viewing and search GD |
