The HF boxes are probably one of the only things they do well, but are pretty well made. If you wanted to stay with American made then you can usually find pretty good deals through Craigslist on snap-on or mac boxes. If you went the HF route I would definitely step up to the 56" if you have the space because the 44" fills up way too fast. I would poke around Garage Journal they have more tool box threads then you can count. |

Quoted: One of the 4 snap-on tool boxes here at work is leaning like the leaning tower of pisa. Quoted: Quoted: In before the tool box snobs. One of the 4 snap-on tool boxes here at work is leaning like the leaning tower of pisa. Then it is overloaded or busted from being mistreated. Say what you will about them, but they make a great tool box. I don't care for a lot of their other tools in comparison to other brands, but they make a hell of a tool box. |
| There was a guy on garage journal that went to most of the big box stores that he had access to and went through all their boxes. Pictures and all. In the end, the harbor freight box was better built...thicker metal, more bearings, better wheels, true double walls. I can't remember the thread, but it was pretty interesting. |
| I have that exact box. I have used it professionally for over a year now and it's holding up well. With our the shop set up I don't have to roll it around so that does help avoid wheel problems for me. I tried to buy the HF box but after 2 trips to the store and being told they didn't have anybody that could run the forklift I drove strIght to menards and bought the box. |

The Masterforce boxes are quite good. I'm impressed with the Masterforce line of hand tools. In a world that is going to shit in China they seem to have more quality Made in USA stuff. My only experience with MasterForce is a 35' Tape measure. It's fallen off roofs, onto concrete, dropped off the top of the vehicle, everything you could imagine...it's still going strong. Watched the other guys go through countless tape measures, but my MasterForce is going strong. I'd give them a whirl on other products. |

Quoted: Right now I have a Kennedy tool box, thats more than full. Quite a few guys here have new Kennedy and their price VS quality is no where near even. you must lock your tool box before you move it, hell even shutting one drawer slightly hard make 3-4 other drawers open. At this point im tempted to spend 1k on the 46 in setup that menards sells. anyone else have one? |

I have had the smaller Masterforce tool box (7 drawer version) for about six years now. It has done all of those things (in red) since day one. Still not bad for the money. Quoted:

| I have one of the masterforce boxes Just the bottom half with drawers that are full width of the box. It's been a good box, not great, no real complaints. Bought it as a second box for when the older craftsman box was full. I think if I was going to get another one, I'd look REAL hard at the Harbor Freight boxes. |

I have a Kennedy roller chest set at work that I've used professionally for 13 years.
It's a piece of shit. I have a 46" Masterforce in my garage that is twice the box at half the price. Mine has the locking handles. I think they're fantastic for the money, especially if you can get them during the 11% sale. (Buy gift cards for 11% off, then spend the gift cards on the box for 11% off again). The drawers aren't ideal for a machinist box, too deep, but for mechanics tools, it's perfect. |

I guess thats whats stopping me, the drawer sizes are a little odd for what I need, but I also have a lot of hand tools (impacts, grinders, sockets.etc) |
