Craigslist scammers piss me off, so I mess with them as long as I can before they finally realize they've been had.  I have a pretty good one going now, off something I posted on there yesterday.  I really wonder if it's at all possible to invoke any kind of human decency out of these douche bags.  Anyone had any good convos with them?  My current one is as follows:

Him: is this still for sale? Lol .......... how much it will cost me ..?
Thank you

Me: I do still have it, though I think it's going to go fast.  The price on the ad is $250 OBO.

Thanks

Him: Thanks for you reply,i am located in Remsenburg city in NY,i really need to buy this and send to my son schooling outside the state as a Gift, have been trying to  buy this on eBay but is very stressful buying on eBay and i will not want to miss out on this opportunity so am making you an offer of $280 to rap the sale off.I will  be paying through PAYPAL because i have a verified account with paypal. So kindly get back with your paypal email address so i can make payment into your PayPal account.Once payment clears, shipment will be handled by me through my personal FedEx account,so you don't have to pay for shipment.Get back to me if my approval is granted.I would like to see the pictures please.
Thanks.

Me: Awesome!  This works perfectly, I'm traveling to my uncles house in Hart Cove this weekend for spring break.  Remsenburg is basically down the street from there.  I'll just stop by sometime this weekend, or we can meet up somewhere around there to make the exchange.  Don't worry about giving me $280, $250 is no problem since I'll be headed that way anyways.  Let me know if this works for you!

Thanks,

Him: Thanks for the mail i will like to come there and pick it up but due to my job am presently out of the state that is why i want to pay you by PayPal just get back to me with your PayPal address so as to make the payment and i will also pay for the shipping....

Me: Hey man it's no problem, I'll just leave it with my uncle.  You can contact him when you get back, and he'll just send me the money.  That way you won't have the netbook sitting on your porch while you're away, and you also won't have to pay for shipping.

They send you a fake email, looking like it's from paypal saying they received the payment.  To me it seems like no one would fall for this, but apparently that is not at all true.

Here's one I recently messed around with:

Dr. Emily Harper (scammer)
Hi,
First of all i would like to give you some additional information about my situation. I am selling this car because my battalion has been sent back to Afghanistan and don't want it get old in my backyard. The price is low because I need to sell it before March 17th. It has no damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained and hasn't been involved in any accident...I do have the title , clear, under my name. The Ford has 35,990 original miles VIN#1FTZR45E35PA26549.
It is still available for sale if interested, price as stated in the ad $4,950. The car is in Seattle WA, in case it gets sold I will take care of shipping. Let me know if you are interested, email back. Below are the car details, also link with more photos and copy of Carfax report. If the link doesn't work, copy and paste it into a new browser page.
Regards!!!

Me:
Seattle?  What a small world, I am outside of Bunen!  Send me your number, and I'll come by today with the cash to pick up the Ford.  Thanks!

Dr. Emily Harper (scammer)
Hi again,
As I told you, at this moment I am in WA in a military base, getting ready for Afghanistan (I hope for the last time). I do a special training program each day and I am not allowed to get out of the unit or give calls whenever I want. The shipping will take 3 to 5 days depending on your location and it’s not a problem because I have considerable discount from eBay and I can do it at no cost for you. You will receive the car along with all the documents including title, bill of sale, 2 set of keys, full service records and more. Because it is a large transaction, we will complete the deal only using an authorized third part like eBay because I already prearranged the whole process with them, using their escrow Safe Pay Program for vehicles not listed on their website. The car is located at the eBay warehouse in WA (ready for delivery). I asked them to allow viewers to go there and inspect the car but their reply was: "We are not a showroom!" In this case, I will offer a 5-day period to inspect the car from the moment you receive it, before I'll have your money. I think this is more than fair for both of us.
The payment will be handled by eBay Escrow, and you will benefit of 5 days inspection time period (test drive) and the option to accept or reject the car on my expense. If you are still interested just send me your full name and shipping address. I will forward your info to eBay and they will notify you about our deal. Like this you'll be able to talk directly with them and ask all you want to know.
Regards!!

Emily

Me:
As I told you in the previous email, I can meet you in Seattle, so there is no need for shipping.  Ok?  Let me know where to bring the money.  I have cash in hand, and can meet you in Seattle

Scammer:
Dear sir,
Unfortunately, I’m on my military base now, waiting to go to Afghanistan, so I’m unable to come making the transaction in person. That’s why i choose eBay third part and this is my only option to complete the deal...Please understand my position and if you accept my terms send me your full name and address in order to open a case with eBay.
Take care and God Bless You!

Me:
Guess I'll keep this cash, then... (included a picture of me holding $5k in $100 bills)

No response!!

Several months ago, I ran into a similar deal on Craigslist, except I was the buyer.   Seller listed a late model truck, way(!) below retail.  I contacted them... seller said the vehicle was her son's and he was killed overseas... she couldn't bear to look at the truck in the driveway and just wanted to get rid of it.

I told her was interested.. and they were hot to trot to finalize the deal.   So I asked when I could look at it.  The seller said they were located in a small town in Illinois, but they would deliver it to me instead for a small fee.   I lied and told her that I had a BIL who was a cop in a town about 40 miles away and he would come a look at it for me... if it was OK he would give them my money.   They suddenly lost interest in me...go figure.

The scam seems pretty common now and not just for cars/trucks.

I have seen several jeeps lately that are priced way too low, and I assume this is what they are doing.  I haven't bothered contacting any of them though.
