| I'm totally with him in his absolute hatred for Toby. One of the best moments of the show was seeing Toby in traction watching spanish TV in a Costa Rican hospital. |

I fucking hate that show, but my 15 year old brother is in love with it. EVERY TIME I go over there he asks me if I want to watch The Orifice. Michael Scott makes me uncomfortable in a way that no other person living or imaginary does. He reminds me of an old boss of mine in so many ways that it just isn't funny. Whenever he does one of those stupid un-PC blunders that has everyone else looking at him like "what were you thinking?" it reminds me of this guy I used to work for. The inane babbling and incoherent rubbish that he spews when he is doing his one-on-ones with the camera reminds of the kind of things my old boss would say...or worse, did say.
I find no humor in that show. None what so ever. |

It really pegs office workers. |

Many of us are bitter, resentful individuals who remember the good old days when entertainment was bland and inoffensive. The following is a list of words I never want to hear on television again. Number one: bra. Number two: horny. Number three: family jewels.” |

She keeps saying "He's such an ASS!". I think the uncomfortableness is what makes it funny. Watching him screw up is like watching someone else get hit in the nads. |

I've watched every episode. The show is definitely not as funny as it was the first few seasons. It's become a bit more of a drama than a pure comedy....Micheal's character as evolved from a hilarious buffoon to a somewhat pitiful, not really funny, unstable disaster. |

Humor has taken a back seat as of late. Told the SO that's why Toby was brought back. Lots of different avenues to take with his character (including his infatuation with Pam) |

I never noticed Dwight's yellow shirts until a couple weeks ago Pam called from New York and asked what shade of yellow Dwight was wearing today.
For my money, you cannot find funnier characters than Kevin and Stanley. As an aside, the actors who play Ryan and Toby are also writers and producers for the show. Interesting. |

I laughed until I cried when Holly first joined the office and thought Kevin was a retard. My face was throbbing. |

Am I the only one who doesn't care for Jim or Pam ? Don't get me wrong, I love the show (mostly due to Dwight), but Jim's character is a pretty bad protagonist. He half-asses it at his job, has turned down or avoided chances to advance his career and condescends to most of his co workers. Now I'm all about workplace pranks, but they're something that you do among friends, you have to be take what you give out. Jim just does it out of a lack of respect for the people he works with. I hear things about how Jim is "changing the American workplace" and I really worry about my generation as we graduate college and enter the workforce with the Jim mentality. Granted, Dunder Mifflin looks like a pretty shitty place to work, but at least a guy like Dwight goes in, takes his job seriously and then goes and enjoys his life outside of that (spudguns and crossbows And to answer the original question, yes, Toby is a tool, reminds me of a stereotypical college professor. I think it's because they're not funny. I watch the show to laugh, and when they're on screen I don't. |

That's the beauty of the character. If he makes you think of a terrible boss you once had, check out Ricky Gervais' character in the original The Office. |

It's a pretty funny show, but the premise has worn thin. I mean c'mon. A documentary crew has been following these goobers for 5 years, and none of them has seen the footage that reveals everything? Pshhhhaaaahhh.
I like the Toby character because he's completely unremarkable in every regard. I can't imagine why Michael hates him so much when he's completely innocuous. The "overseas" trip to Canada was pretty damn funny, replete with Deputy Clementine Johnson as the Concierge! |

Haha, I somewhat identify with him, similarities best summed up in the take your daughter to work day when he plays and explains the significance of Green Sleeves and reads "Stuhl Pieter" or whatever the book was... |

“What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany’s at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No. I go for the chandelier. It’s priceless. As I’m taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It’s her father’s business. She’s Tiffany. I say ‘no’. We make love all night. In the morning the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico but I go to Canada. I don’t trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later I get a postcard. I have a son and he’s the chief of police. – This is where the story gets interesting. – I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadéro. She’s been waiting for me all these years. She’s never taken another lover. I don’t care. I don’t show up. I go to Berlin. That’s where I stash the chandelier.” |
