I have Microsoft Office 2007 on my laptop.  It was working just fine yesterday, but now whenever I try to open a document it comes up saying, "The file (name here) is not available."  I'm in the middle of term papers and a powerpoint, but nothing will open at this point.  Anyone know how to fix it??  Thank you!

Plug your memory stick back in.

Do you have an antivirus program installed?

I have Microsoft Security Essentials... That would be the only one that could possibly interfere.  I had NOD32, and there were never any problems with that.

Did you backup your files on a USB thumb drive?  If I back them up on my thumb drive and then cut the laptop off it will try to find the file on the USB drive when I reboot.

You really should use Office Live:

http://www.officelive.com/en-us/

I backed up every document this semester on there.  It is free and you can access your documents from any computer.

Confirm that your files are in fact on the computer. If so, BACK THEM UP on an external hard drive or thumb drive.

Then try to launch the program by double clicking on the file name on the the computer. Or right click on the file name: "Open With" and select the Office program you need.
