Mikey is my buddy. Last Tuesday, Mike and I went to Jackson Michigan to take a look at some welding cells that our company is purchasing. We were there about 3 hours and he started feeling poorly. After a few impromptu trips to the head, he said he needed to leave and get back home in Northern Ohio. He didn't look well. We started down the Highway on 94 Eastbound towards Ann Arbor and had been driving for 10 minutes when he grabbed his chest, groaned and slid down the seat. I called 911 and said Mike was having a heart attack and I needed the nearest Hospital or EMS. I'm trying to drive, keep a hand on mike to let him know I'm there, by this time, he was in and out of it and looked gray. After I pulled over the 911 operator asked me if I had any aspirin and fortunately, I did. I put one in his mouth and told him to chew, which he did. After I pulled off at Clear Lake Road and sat there for 5 minutes before MSP arrived. Not too long after that the EMS arrived and took Mike away. I spoke with the MSP Trooper to find out where they were taking Mike and good fortune was on his side again, they were taking him to UofM Hospital. It took me well over an hour to find the Hospital and by the time I arrived he was in the Cath lab getting another stint. I stayed till his wife arrived from their home, spoke with her a bit, turned over his personal belongings like his glasses and watch and drove home. Mike called me Thursday to thank me and then I saw him today, when he came back to work. He thanked me again and told me he had %100 blockage and after the Cath procedure, he felt 20 years younger. I was just happy to see him. |

Was your co-worker over weight? Sometimes I think I have major blockage because I used to eat unhealthy and sometimes have weird spasms in my chest and my arms/legs will fall asleep easier than they used to. I am only 23, 5-10 a little under 140 pounds and appear fit/cut. ETA: good save man |

It's easy to throw a clot under many different conditions even if you have no occlusive disease. Many young, otherwise healthy people have high cholesterol which goes undiagnosed because they are not in a obvious risk group. One of my unusual case studies at TCT was a 23yo female triathlete, a vegetarian non-smoker. DRT from a massive coronary. Autopsy revealed heavily occluded coronary arteries. Sometimes all of the fitness in the world cannot save you from a genetic time-bomb. No MD ever checked her cholesterol because she was asymptomatic and absent from every common risk group. |

This was a man that sharecropped/farmed hard enough to save the $3600 for 60 acres in about 1935/1936. You should go get checked out.... Interesting side note: He was rejected by the army for "having crooked feet". His feet were fine. We have the paperwork and the tag with "rejected" stamped on it. IIRC, he had to ride a train to new mexico to find out he had crooked feet.
