| I need to swap out my commercial receiver extension for a mil-spec extension. Who makes the best one and who has the best prices? |

It's likely going to come down to actually finding one at this point. Not the best time to be picky about parts. That being said, check Bravo Company they seem to have them in stock for the moment. Wow, is there anything that isn't in demand for an AR anymore. With that comment, I have quickly placed my order with Bravo Company. Bad time to be an AR owner

Bravo company They sell a Gen 2 version. I bought one and am very pleased with it. Will the castle nut, end plate, spring, buffer from my current tube work with the new mil-spec tube? No, No, Probably, and Probably. I like Stag/CMT. Vltor also offers them. |

I would think so, but I'm not 100% on the new castle nut and end plate, but they are cheap. The buffer tube and spring should be the same. |

Yeah, that guy got me worried, so I called around really quick and was told those parts will work for both! Man I hate being "uneducated" when it comes to this stuff! |

How can the castle nut and end plate be a different size since the threaded end of the receiver extension has to thread into a standard-sized hole in the receiver, whether or not the receiver extension is "commercial" or "milspec." ETA: Christ, you guys are fast. I'm like 5th in on this. |

| DSArms also has them. Anyone who has a buffer tube for $16...make sure it's the milspec one. When I was looking for one I found a few places that had them real cheap, but when I called to double-check I found those were the commercial ones, and the milspec were more expensive. I think the one I got from DSA was $25 or so. |

I am pretty certain that a rifle bufffer tube is a rifle buffer tube and the only time a difference between mil spec and commercial comes into play is with carbine buffer tubes for collapseable stocks. |
