So - Fire alarm is malfunctioning and you are not going to stop going out after multiple BS calls?  Not something I have seen Fire do, they flagged that and made a phone call the next time “do you have a fire?”

As a matter of fact, if you did not flag an address that had been hit by something like this swatting repeatedly, you would have been in trouble the next time it happened.

Common sense needs to be used for things like this, FFS…

Doubt I would have settled for only 575k on something this dumb….especially of they never tracked down and arrested the person calling it in.  Have to have some serious leadership issues to let this happen.

QI is needed for decisions made on the street that could reasonably be seen as constitutional. It has no place for decisions made by someone sitting at a desk as they have the time and resources to make a proper decision. It has been expanded way beyond its original intent.

ETA: Most officers on the street make decisions based on policiy and training. If the policy or training is wrong this would still leave the ones responsible for that policy or training liable. Put the blame where it belongs.

My camera would have recorded each swat call and been posted on Facebook.

Then each officers Facebook until it stopped.

I would have placed a sign at the entrance of my house saying, yes this is the house you JBTs have been swatted too 55 times, please fuckimg go home you have boots that need shinning.

Luckily for me the Deputy Sheriff is my neighbor, he would fix it pretty quick.

His cameras would also cover every time someone pulls into the entrance to our property.

I'm sure it would have been handled in a much different way if the calls were aimed at city officials or officers. Too deliberate for it to happen 55 times with the tools and resources available to them.

A call back after the 1st time would have saved time, money and trust. Just answering, then dispatching makes it a very effective flaw to be exploited.

The resistance to even address it really smells.

I did some digging into this guy. This doesn’t excuse bad police work, but we have a delusional leftist, chronically online, middle-aged, out-of-shape, overweight guy who claims to be a gym rat and half marathon runner. He constantly insults regular people online, most of whom did nothing wrong, and threatens trolls. He tells trolls that he is an expert in knives, guns, BJJ, Aikido, Krav Maga, and kickboxing and invites them to come fight him. Then one drunk troll shows up to take him up on his offer, and he runs away and calls the police. Anyone with a functioning brain would know that this could escalate into a ridiculous situation. How exactly is he a victim? It’s not OK to swat someone and this does not excuse bad police work, but he is hardly innocent. I am not going to get too upset about someone who behaves like that and openly says every day that everyone who disagrees with him is a Nazi and deserves death or prison. Some agencies have decided to not respond to some types of low priority complaints. Some agencies expect certain low priority types of complaints to be reported online because they don't have the personnel to
to devote to taking those reports. Despite what the courts have ruled most agencies do try to respond to most or all  complaints. Most of the time there's a long delay in responding it's because it's been deemed a low priority cdll compared to other pending calls

Apparently, you are going to use mental gymnastics and try your “gotcha” approach yet again. You know full well that no one ever said that, but you know nothing about him and you don’t have anything else to add to this, so that is all you have.

No one deserves that, but if you are an asshole and intentionally escalate things with strangers, then things can get ridiculous fast.

No one really knows who is responsible. The guy who claimed responsibility just got out of prison and is living in a halfway house. He has plenty of people who hate him. The Norm MacDonald story only relates to one group of people who hate him, but he uses that to explain everything so he can always play the victim.

He tried to sue the Norm MacDonald group in court and lost, ultimately having to pay more than $83,000 to cover their legal fees. The judgment itself was lower, but there was a lot of interest because he refused to pay it for a long time.

He is certainly a victim as far as being swatted, but he also did a lot to help things get to that point. He actually tweeted “Enjoy prison stalker” more than 300 times to trolls on a single Thanksgiving Day. He continues to threaten to kick his troll’s asses if they ever have the balls to meet him in person. That is not the behavior of someone who simply wants to be left alone, especially considering this was well after most of the swatting incidents had already occurred.

The guy has issues, and he always seems to make things worse. If a story is this crazy, there is usually a lot more to it than meets the eye.

There is no proof that the police came to his house 55 times. I believe they were probably called at least that many times, or more, and there is proof that they actually came to his house at least a dozen or so times. So, he is definitely a legitimate swatting victim.

He is obviously addicted to attention, and it doesn’t seem to matter whether that attention is negative or positive as long as he gets it.
This is also the guy who once got drunk and tried to fight Larry Correia at an author’s dinner at Spaghetti Factory. Larry would have broken him in half. Of course, he denies that story, but Larry has told it multiple times, and several people who were there have confirmed it.
He hasn’t had a book contract in over six years because he has burned all of his bridges.

See a self-destructive pattern yet?

You are welcome to keep being obtuse and repeat yourself into the void, but I’m done with the rabbit hole that is this guy. It goes way deeper, but I’m not going to waste any more time by looking any further. I know too much of this insane story already and now I want to forget. He can be both an asshole that helped create the situation and a victim. MPD can also be at fault for handling this poorly. There are a lot of assholes colliding in this story.
