I know other boards have it, is it time for such here?

Just left the EE and I see more and more sellers with 1, 3 or 5 posts selling very very overpriced parts.
I appears to me that they are not so much 'members' but rather opportunist taking advantage of the EE.

Maybe 100 posts should be the minimum for selling in the EE.
Maybe paid members would be even better.

I think a '25% wisdom of the ages discount' for those with over, say 25K posts, would be entirely appropriate.

I went the other way with this, after reading all the posts of people gettin burned I decided not to buy from someone with a post count under 100 and/or a recent joined date. Not unlike myself.

I do enjoy the EE posts with 158 views and no replies, sorta clues one into the pricing.

Being "taken advantage of" requires TWO parties.

If someone is willing to buy a  PMag for $75 bucks, how is the post count of the seller supposed to help him?

Having a bunch of posts on a forum doesn't make you a swell person, nor does it mean you're going to give things away at bargain prices.

Are you yourself making a point?

It would make it a bit more of a truer 'membership' kinda thing.
It would slow down the people who have no real interest in learning and contributing to the board from making a fast buck on the board.
IMO these people are never going to be contributing members but are scavengers taking advantage of the newer contributing members.

One of the biggest pia ee transactions I had was with the person who had the highest post count on here at the time.

It used to be some of the best deals on here were from flea bay vermin who sold stuff pretty cheap after they got chased off of flea bay.

if someone has a low post count or wants too much money then buy elsewhere
We are all (presumably) adults and I don't think it's my place to tell you who you can buy from, or not.

You are right, but it does show that the person with a high post count DOES enjoy the time spent here and values his membership, he also knows that burning people onthe EE will result in his membership being locked. Not much of an issue with Mister 2 post count.

Yup. One thing we certainly need in ARFcomville is to judge others by the number of posts they have under their belt.

If you see a newbie trying to sell brass cased AR ammo for 20 cents/round, are you going to be a nice guy and let him know he's selling it way too cheap? Or are you going to figure he should have done some quick research and hit the reply button as fast as possible to say you'll take it?

It goes both ways. And like someone else said, it takes two to make a deal.

There have been alot of EE threads posted in GD of High Post Count Members shitting in people's WTS Threads.

I don't get at all how Post Count is a reliable sort criterion for Good/Bad person to do a deal with or participation in the EE.  This just seems like a way for the EE Pros to try and eliminate some of the competition.

That's what I was thinking.  Scammers are less likely to hang around for a few months before selling.  They need the quick bucks.

I could concur with this, we just need something to slow down the sillyness in the EE.
A 'true' member will hopefully act better than a quick-buck fly-by-night guy.

simple solution -

paying members get access to filters by count number or join date, or other things like # of posts in th EE, or even (more complicated) # of postive remarks about transactions, from the thread that tracks it (that one would require some doing...)

you pay, ask for the feature.  can't be that difficult.  then each person can filter the EE how they like.
3/21/2009 8:48:22 AM EDT
[#21]
There's a really simple solution, just don't deal with people you're not comfortable with.  Low post count, just joined, no feedback, just skip the ad.  Buyer beware and all that.

You deal in the EE at your own risk. I've dealt with guys in there who had one or two posts and 100+ in feedback.

People pay to sell here and there isn't likely to be any ruling that cuts their number of customers based on something like post count.

I agree.

I prefer to deal with members who have been around a while and always look to see if they have any positive or negative feedback as well.

[#26]
How about paying members only and only if they do so by verified information.

That way when you try and rip someone off they can trace you back to your house and beat the shit out of you.

3/21/2009 11:16:23 AM EDT

Hard call, I do think a minimum post count wouldnt be a bad thing but then you will a bunch of tag, , etc.  A recent join date is the first thing I look at then feed back.  Like said above it does take two for the deal.  I have a LMT MRP built on a POF right now which may seem high, but I dont need to sell it and when you figure the parts prices its inline, then add the D740 and I dont think its over priced at all.  That said when I look at what it would cost (normally) I use that as a guide line also.  Now when I see a Jan - March join low post count and a AR for 2500.00 well I dont even waste my time.
3/21/2009 11:17:41 AM EDT

if you dont like it just ignore low post count sellers and non team members then, sheesh.

maybe I'm lucky but in my few dealings in the EE my problems have been fairly minor and i typically don't look at post count or membership . I appriciate the people who do deal with me despite what i consider a low post count. And I even feel bad for not leaving feed back to a guy because i didn't know how to leave feed back when i first started. The worst I think I've had happened was being declined on an ammo deal simply because the city named half the street by number and gave the other half the name campus drive. Guess which side I live on

So,stop the"panic buying noobs" from buying team members over priced crap on the EE? Let's see how sales go then. Lets make it a secret and invisible sales site that only verified double platinum paid members with the secret handshake can enter and do civilized transactions for fair and balanced prices.

I've bought many items off the EE and I've never had a problem.

Sure some people get the smelly end of the stick sometimes. It happens all the time, anywhere on the internet.

Bottom line is you are trusting the person you are doing business with the be honest, and quick to ship the item after payment.

But you are still trusting someone on the INTERNET where trust isn't in great demand to fulfill their end of the bargain.

Your case is different. You think that being a part of ar15.com you are entitled to great deals on gun parts in a time where demand is high and supply is relatively low due to fears of dear leader making the items you want are no longer available to you.

Suck it up and don't post an " I'll take it" from the people you are complaining about.

Its that easy.

If YOU don't want to deal with people with less that x number of posts, Southerners/Northerners, non-tearm members etc. etc. then YOU don't have too.

.

Post count has nothing to do with integrity.

Choose your own methods to determine who you wish to deal with.  If your criteria are post count, Team Membership, past rating, or he drives the same kind of car as you do...  that's fine and I hope they work for you.    But don't force your arbitrary criteria on me.

with the GD here it is a bit different than say snipers hide

you could easily got to GD and get 50 or 100 posts in a night or a weekend
