| Read Death, Despair and Second Chances in Rocky Mountain National Park. I brushed up on it when we were taking vacations there before covid. It's frighting how bad things can go in just a few seconds. Not only regular folks, but Park Rangers with years of experience disappear or end up dead. Nature can be a wicked mofo. |

Dmartco I hear what you’re saying… However given that there would be regular disappearances also that are totally benign… you can’t totally fault a guy for cherry picking others to make a better book just because some are mysterious doesn’t mean every single one is wild. One would expect a mix as a whole but I don’t think I’d expect a mix in his book Docglockster I tried to do a ton of research on the Cades Cove case as well and even went there and looked from several angles. I didn’t get the same impression you did so I’m very interested in what you found that I missed |

People do weird and inexplicable shit in the woods, especially when lost, especially when not in their right mind, and the woods are a huge place, water features make it even worse. I'm a SAR dog handler, the dogs are not foolproof. Some of these are predation, some of them are psych/medical issues compounded by exposure, some are probably murder or suicides that were just never discovered...put enough people in the world and over time some outlier situations will occur. |

A simple google search will pull up a number of families who are pissed off at Paulides for spinning stories about their loved ones. Paulides is a good storyteller, I’ll give him that. |

The original members were Warren and Lewis Johnson, Bill McDowell and Ron Morehead. You can probably look up any of those keywords and find info about the recordings. |

I bought one of his books a couple of years ago because they described a situation that happened to me. It really didn't shed any more light on the subject, other than I'm not completely crazy (only partially crazy) and other people see similar stuff. And it's one thing to completely dismiss stories like this until you actually experience something you can't explain yourself. All of a sudden, you have to give a little bit a credibility to every story you ever heard. |

My girlfriend knows some people personally that were written about in one of Paulides' books. The person that disappeared was a mentally challenged girl. Her parents were with her when she vanished and evidently they've endured a ton of grief and even accusations as a result of the disappearance. I've never spoken to them, nor ever met them, but my GF says that they are beside themelves with pain over the disappearance. Apparently they return to the site whenever they can to try to find something...anything...that might provide a clue. |

Scathing review WARNING - Author is a convicted confidence trickster who lies about his credentials Paulides has heavily edited and often quite frankly lied about, in fact, most of the content has been taken from the reports found in Off the Wall and Over the Edge (who had no trouble getting these reports from the National park Service) which have been edited by Paulides to give the impression that something mysterious is going on. Even more ludicrous is the "conclusions" he somehow wrings out of these cases. Paulides conveniently forgets to mention known causes of missing persons such as "Terminal Burrowing" or "Hypothermia Psychosis" "Paradoxical Undressing" and the most common of all "Life insurance claim scams". When the official reports he reproduces in this book don't fit in with his criteria he either edits out key parts of the report or fabricates things. Even his Credentials are complete fiction, he was never a "Detective for over 20 years" as he likes to claim, he was a Traffic Police Officer for 16 years who resigned in disgrace after his arrest for Fraud and Theft. To claim that you were a Detective for over 20 years when in fact you were a Traffic Cop of less than 16 years before being convicted of using your position to sell Fake Celebrity Autographs is Absurd and Highly Deceptive. This is most likely why his requests for information, if he even made those requests, were denied because of his background and what he wanted to do with the information. Another fact that Paulides neglects to mention is that he is the Architect of another Scam with the Equally despicable Melba Ketchum charging people in excess of 50 USD to look at a Fake "Scientific Journal" claiming to show Evidence of Bigfoot DNA (DENOVO MAGAZINE). Only after paying this money to Him and Ketchum do people Discover that there is in fact no Scientific Journal and No DNA test proving the Existence of Bigfoot. |

How likely is it that the parks are protecting samsquatch? I've heard they often do the same with mountain lions, not informing the public that there may or not be a predator in the area. Mountain lions can have huge territories. I highly doubt samsquatch could exist without being seen by someone. |

Related to this. There is a Canadian guy on YouTube, channel is name howtohunt. The guy had tons of hunting stories since he is a hunting guide. Well. A few months ago he started talking about his encounter with a Sasquatch/Bigfoot when he was a kid... and since then he keeps talking about that. I can’t decide if he is honest or does it because it brings viewers to his channel |

| Wife and I watched the Missing 411 The Hunted a few weeks back. We were surprised to see one of our favorite areas briefly talked about in the movie. We'd been there a few dozen times. They stated three people had gone missing from there. Then the film delved right into the "Sierra Camp" thing and played some of the sounds that were recorded in 1974 and I just about shit. We had heard some god-awful unexplainable 'thing' in the middle of the night back in 2001 in the same general area (north of Yosemite in the general vicinity of Donnell Vista). Holy shit talk about getting chills. Haven't been to the area in a few years but unsure of how I feel about going back now. |

Pretty much all of our nations knew of them and had tribal names/meanings for them. It seems that there were regional differences in how they were viewed by "The People". Some nations feared them more than others. All respected them. Basically, in my nation and others, they are spiritual beings, able to manifest as physical, at their choosing. This explains no bodies, bones etc. But few outside of the nations, listen to these things. |
