These arrived at the local shop today. The original brushed Groms got off to a bad start because they would immediately frag the plastic diff gears. The BLX has steel gears. $229 comes RTR with a gyro and a 2S battery and it's capable of 3S. The power it has with 2S is wild enough, it must absolutely haul ass on 3S. My son and I picked up a Typhon Grom BLX a couple weeks ago, I believe it’s basically the same under the skin as far as powertrain and performance. It’s a ton of fun, we really want to try it in some snow. I haven’t tried 3s yet but it’s easily hitting 35mph on full speed out of the box, my 5 year old loves taking it to a field nearby our house but at 100% on the controller it spends as much time upside down as right side up with him, one day I’ll put a 3s in there and see if it really hits 55mph as advertised. We also have a brushed version that I put the metal oil filled diffs in as the factory ones stripped out almost immediately, but other than that they’re tough as hell. Damn things are addictive, but my friend’s kids at this age are already on xboxes and this is how I keep him uninterested in video games and more into going outside, so far so good. |
