I'm looking into a monocular. Specifically the Vortex solo R/T 8x36

Anyone have one. Thoughts? I like the idea of range estimation being an option. Is it more cost effective to just go with a simple solo 10x25 for $50 bux and call it a day? Any other suggestions?

I've been a big fan of vortex products so far. Seemed like a nice compact monocular. I was hoping someone with first hand experience would chime in.

Very interested as well. I have been looking at both the solo and the recon. What's the difference in the r/t models?

I have one. Very clear glass and solid construction. Goes with me everywhere I shoot.  Worth every penny, good choice OP!

Got it, yea that could be helpful. Can't wait to hear how the reticle clutters (if at all) the "picture" of the optic. I have read all the same reviews but look forward to first hand knowledge.

I have about a dozen of their monocular and binocular products, and am very happy with them.

My only complaint is water resistance on the monoculars.  I left one out overnight and it fogged heavily inside.  Sitting it out in the sun for a day or two dried it out, but was surprised it fogged.  They're hard to beat for portability and usability, though.  I leave one in every glovebox, backpack and ditch bag.  My only problem is keeping the kids from taking them and not putting them back
