It is, and it's happened to hundreds of others. But some people are too stupid to understand that companies who are in the Government's good graces do no wrong.

Regulating bodies doing favors for companies they're supposed to be regulating. Pretty sure that's not very capitalistic.

There's a hundred threads on it. The usual suspects will pop up and defend everything they do, including paying off government reps to get favors. There's no point. People who understand capitalism can't work if regulating bodies grant favors for monetary contribution dislike Monsanto.

To arfcom, corporations and private companies can do whatever they want. A corporation could rape and murder their  family and it would be A-OK.

But if the government did anything even remotely close, they would make harshly worded posts in protest.

This is baffling to me. It's not capitalism if the government is granting favors and regulating competition out of existence.

Smart folks will note that I did not say anything about the legislation.

The government did the legislation.

I merely noted that Monsanto has helped the world of agriculture more than any perceived harm it has done.

Failed farmers can find blame wherever they want though. Tis. America.

Everyone needs to remember that Monsanto is the company that poisoned Anniston, AL (same town that the CMP South store resides) with PCB's, the cancer rate in that area is like five times the normal rate. Creeks in that area are polluted for a thousand years, you can't eat fish in the river below it, etc etc.
I remember going by the plant as a kid, the air was so thick with the odor emulating from it it would choke you. The plant was like a mile from the downtown area, and was very populated nearby. Google Monsanto Anniston for more details. This was a big deal in Alabama for sure.

Private Companies always do better than governing bodies.

That doesn't always mean much.

The moment a corporation is subsidized or given special interests it can be considered owned by the government in no small part.

Bad things ensue.

All are not equal, shrink you brush a bit.

He considers using federal/county authorities to seize farms who refuse to sell to Monsanto because of trumped up environmental nonsense-- evidence of the farmers "failing."

Obama is a neo liberal, a corporate leftist, who fancies himself as part of the elite. He loves luxury, and he knows he needs sugar daddies after he leaves office, so this shouldn't be surprising.

Wall Street controls both parties.

Same way they always do. Attempted buyout, second attempted buy out. Then suddenly the EPA decides to seize land on the grounds that water runoff is effecting something in the county, and something vastly expensive must be done to "fix the issue."

Grandparents were too old to mess with it, and the kids were afraid of the potential costs and penalties. I didn't have a say in it because I was only 12 years old at the time.

You said Arfcom thinks corporation (meaning more than one) can do what they want/are God.  That's simply not true and is a wide brush.

OK I'll give you that, but in so many cases it is true. Many of the members here will defend private companies at any cost and if a government entity does the same thing, they are considered evil.
