From Worldnet Daily D.C. SNIPER TERROR "Hero" Moose loses way to award ceremony Police chief led Beltway manhunt, misses giving keynote speech Posted: January 22, 2003 12:30 p.m. Eastern Ā© 2003 WorldNetDaily.com Montgomery County, Md., Police Chief Charles Moose led the massive manhunt for the Beltway sniper last fall, but got so hopelessly lost in Philadelphia Sunday he missed an event at which he was scheduled to be the keynote speaker, reports the Philadelphia Daily News. "It was awful," Moose's wife, Sandy, told the Daily News. "I was thinking, he caught a sniper but he can't find a church." "I've never been that lost before and I never miss an event. It's just the most bizarre thing that ever happened to me," said an embarrassed Moose. According to the report, more than a thousand people packed the Triumph Baptist Church, where Moose was invited to deliver an address as part of the Philadelphia Council of Clergy's Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. Moose was due to accept the council's National Hero Award. Instead, the couple spent the evening driving around in circles trying to find the church. "We found the street [Wingohocking] about six times, but it kept stopping or disconnecting," Moose said. The chief accidentally drove across a bridge into New Jersey before piloting the car toward I-95 and back home. Sandy Moose explained she'd tried contacting the church, but got only recordings. Moose said he declined an offered police escort because he didn't want the fanfare. He opted to rely on directions gleaned from a MapQuest search on the Internet done by his secretary. The Rev. Anthony Floyd, founder of the Council of Clergy, said the council had sent Moose $700 to cover his travel expenses. He said Moose promised to return the funds. As WorldNetDaily reported, Moose was criticized by a federal law-enforcement official close to the Beltway sniper task force for "wasting time" hunting white gunowners, despite witness descriptions that the suspects "looked Hispanic" and were "olive skinned." Moose, an outspoken critic of racial profiling, pounced on phone tips from girlfriends, wives and neighbors upset with white guys with guns. The tips all proved to be dead ends. White men detained for questioning or put under surveillance had to be taken off the suspect list as alibis checked out and the shootings continued. Throughout the sniper ordeal, Moose also refused to release a composite sketch or even a demographic profile of the sniper suspect, which would have helped the public narrow down who to look for. He explained he didn't want to "paint some group." Moose said he'd do whatever it took to make up for Sunday's mishap in Philadelphia. The council has invited him to come again. What a dumb ass... |

"It was awful," Moose's wife, Sandy, told the Daily News. "I was thinking, he caught a sniper but he can't find a church." he caught the snipers? [LOL] granted my memory is fuzzy but I don't remember him playing that big of a role in the actual capture (or anything other than half assed press conferences, not that I would have done better) |

Quoted: Those guys basicly turned themselves in. If Malvo and Mohammed hadn't of become bored and given the Police/FBI/ATF clues they'd still be looking for a middle-aged white guy driving a white van. Nay, that ain't profiling... . Kihn, you sound bitter. are you a middle-aged white guy? if so you need to drive your kids to soccer practice and paint your van. |

Quoted: Kihn, you sound bitter. are you a middle-aged white guy? if so you need to drive your kids to soccer practice and paint your van. No not bitter, just astounded by all of the hypocricy. And am a middle aged white guy BTW. The apparent lack of any sensibility to use good investigative technique because of PC correctness insisted upon by the left and those that benefit from it and applying a reverse form of discrimination does erk me though. PC Correctness apparently has more value than actually finding killers. PC first, law enforcement second. Heaping undeserved praise and worship onto an official who hindered more than contributed to finding of the killers is so ironic as to be just short unbelievable but if you worship at the alter of Political Correctness obviously everthing can and will be forgiven. Basicly I feel it is more of a coverup for Moose's ineptitude and his own personal biases than for any serious consideration of his finding of the killers (he was described as the charge guy while the actual work was done at the federal level while Moose was still insisting on White guys in White vans). As all know 'Profiling' just doesn't work (little bit of sarcasm inserted here). Malvo/Mohammed were stopped like ten times but were not looked at closer for what I can only percieve as a fear of litigation by the officers involved in the stop for 'Profiling' a minority. How many people did die that didn't have to because of an Institutionalized bias at all levels of Goverment and society than insist on PC Correctness? Moose should have said didn't want to paint a picture of some group of people other than white guys. Aren't you tired of the double standard and everything that is used to support this form of bias? I certainly am and PC is the culprit. Am very happy that the 'snipers' were discovered and may have to pay for their crimes with any luck but my bitch is about the system and it's double standards that only contributes to that which it is supposed to be limiting. You may be content with this but not me. The color of my van is just the color I want to be[;D]. |
