My house was a regular zoo yesterday. I had to run two black bears off my deck in the afternoon and these guys were hanging out all evening.

Wife took lousy pics, don't blame me

That is pretty damn cool

The closest I've ever been to a moose was about 20 feet, and I was able to snap this shot

I have never had the opportunity to see one of these guys. I understand they are huge. Could you get a picture of yourself next to one so I will have a frame of reference?

I opened this thread thinking - "If this is about moose, then they must be from Alaska."

I wasn't disappointed.

I prefer "donks" for plural.

Almost a daily sight for me during May/June on the way to work, about 5:30 or so. I've seen them do some pretty stupid things as far as near accidents go. Are they still getting killed by the hundreds on the Alaska railroad tracks during winter?

Nice pic.

Too bad Anchorage wouldn't have a bow season to help control the moose/bear population.

Just pump a shotgun, they'll run as soon as they hear it.

There was a cub on my railing so I went out and yelled at it. Turned out momma was on the steps where I couldn't see her. I yelled they left, I did have an 870 though, just a note, warning shots to scare them do not work.

I know this was not directed to me, but I prefer elk over moose, with caribou being tied with bison for my favorite meatses. All are good, and better than venison.

Awesome moose pics - I don't know what's cooler, the ones in the yard or the nice bull you bagged.

Some of them will let you get real close, but a lot of them will run like hell, and rarely one will charge you.  I always keep some distance and don't take chances by getting close.

I just saw one a few weeks ago along the Snake River, it looks really wierd to see tham out in the sage brush steppe with catcus and tumble weeds and no trees in sight.

... and a hell of a lot of testosterone that makes him think you look better trampled into the ground. I prefer to keep my distance.
