BHO aside, is there any more vile, useless creature on the face of the earth?

Those ravenous little bastards make it damn near impossible to enjoy so much as stepping outside from mid May to October every year.

HA!

Come on up to Maine, Minnesota, Wisconsin or Alaska sometime. Of all my backcountry travels, these have been the worst for skeeters.

When you come out of your tent and walk 300 feet, only to rub them  or blackflies off your legs under shorts and you see nothing but red, you know your "in country".

In Wyoming and Alaska there are two types of mosquito's, the ones that fly through your mosquito netting and those that unzip your netting.

Haha, I wish. I was born and raised here. I hate lovebugs too, but at least they aren't blood suckers!

Truth.

Grew up in MN but currently live in FL.

FL doesn't scratch the surface of those midwestern bloodsuckers.

I have some sunfish and goldfish in a barrel outside right now.  The mosquitoes obviously avoid laying eggs in there.  But there is a plastic sandbox that filled with snowmelt water that happens to be filled with mosquito larvae.  I arranged a meeting today.

The mosquitoes are not bad yet (still too cold), but the blackflies are out in full swing.  From my blackfly thread:

Fuck YEAH! They're big, they're bold and unlike their southern cousins, they have only four months of the year to get the whole job done!

In Minnesota, the skeeters are so big that you have to trap them.
