My mouse pointer is having problems in Windows 8.1 in my new computer. What happens is often times, my pointer is able to highlight and click on all my desktop icons. But it will not highly anything on my taskbar and I cannot click on anything on the task bar. Also, when I do open Google Chrome, and I try to click on the address bar to type in a web address, the pointer does become the "I", but when I left click, nothing happens. Also when I left click or right click on the tab in Chrome, it closes Chrome out, as if I hit the "X" at on right side of the window. I can use Internet explorer, and the address bar does work, but the scroll bar is unresponsible, and my mouse wheel is also not able to scroll up or down. My mouse is fine, and my keyboard is fine, I've used it on other computers. Also, after restarting a bunch of times, I do get all the normal functionality back, but once I go play a game or watch a google play movie, and then finish, it goes back to the same glitch. Anybody else have this problem before and have a fix? |

since you're saying "play a game" or "watch a movie", i presume that means those things take over full screen, exclusive use of the mouse?
i'm wondering if you have some kind of strange graphics driver issue, where coming back from full screen it is messing something up? make sure all your drivers are up to date? it's odd that it is the taskbar (explorer.exe) and chrome. i'd expect if explorer isn't working, then IE wouldn't work, but chrome would. when it gets in this state, try using the task manager and killing explorer.exe, which will restart the taskbar/etc. |
