This may be way off topic for this board, but afterall it is general discussion.
Has anyone ever moved away from home at a young age.  Ok, I am not all that young, I am 23.  I have moved away from home for the first time for graduate school.  I am 330 miles away.  It is hard.  I used to be able to reach out and touch someone without even thinking about it, and I can't now.  It is lonely. AND when you need somoene to be there, they aren't.

When I was 15, I spent 9 months at the McLaeran Institution in Oregon, and was transitioned to the St. Marys Home for Boys resedential program in Beaverton/Portland on my 16th birthday.

Wanted to add- it's tough buddy. You and I are in the same age demographic, and I have been there.
But it gets better.
You make new friends, and fall into a new social circle.
Gut home is always home, no matter where you are, so that always is a bit rough.

Vally,

I know it cn be rough but at the same time you need to realize you are growing.  In 10 years you will be glad for this experience.  Jeeze I sound like my parents!  YUK!  Well anyway, try to meet people.  Go out and make sure you create time for fun.  Do you have any hobbies?  Billiards, frisbee golf, music, ect?  Also, if you don't already, strike up conversation with random people in or after class.

I moved 1500 miles from home and had never been to the state before and also didn't know a single soul within 1500 miles. I know what you are going through.  As someone else said, it only gets better.

How long have you been away from home now?

Get out, socialize, and meet new people to "reach out and touch". [:D]

It shouldn't be to difficult in a University environment to find lots of other people in the same boat. Look for events going on and just show up. Drag your classmates out for pizza and beer, or take them shooting.

There are probably a few AR15.com guys in the area too.

Matt's right.  You want to shoot - and this site has the perfect people to meet up with and do some shooting. [;)]
(For the rest of you, Vally is a nonshooter, but would like to shoot)

When I was 16, I spent tne summer on the grain harvest with a crew. When I was 17 I left home for good, stayed away for ten years before I went back. With everyone it will be different, just hang in there. you will meet new friends, enjoy your time away.... fullclip

Thank you to everyone who left a comment.  Yeah it has only been a few days since I have been alone here.  I moved up this past Saturday and everyone left on Monday afternoon.  I guess I am just bored, and have way to much time to think about it.  I am not having luck finding a job, and that worries me.  Too many worries, and not enough fun.
