I just posted my movie review for 2012 over on my blog... I tried to keep it "SPOILER" free!
So, if your interested, check it out! Prepper 2012 - Movie Review |

Sorry, but the ads for it look like an over-the-top disaster film.
I didn't see anything that would make me want to shell out the fundage to see it. Besides, I have a theory that the Mayan calendar ends on 21 December, 2012, because they ran out of space on the rock.

Still enjoyable though! Prepper |

Movies like this make me go |

We just got back from this movie. To sum it up quickly - take all of the improbably action of Transformers 2, The Day After Tomorrow, and Independence Day then mix in the love story of Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, and Sleepless in Seattle, then take out reason, logic, adherence to any physical laws, now stir in some Danny Glover as El Presidente and you have this movie. The special effects are quite amazing and almost make the movie enjoyable. Then Amanda Peet and John Cusack start talking and you're reminded that you should have seen this at the dollar movies. I would give the action and special effects a solid 8/10 The story line is a solid 2/10. There were actually multiple people who laughed out loud (including this ancient little couple sitting two rows behind us) multiple times through the movie. I will say that it was worth my matinee admission to see probably 1/3 of the audience cheer when California crumbles. |

Quoted: As taken from quotes on several sites:Quoted: It is Ironic all the Christian sites were destroyed, and any Muslim site was not. I wondered about that too? Here’s what Mr. Emmerich had to say about not destroying Islamic holy sites: “Well, I wanted to do that… but my co-writer Harald [Klosser] said I will not have a fatwa on my head because of a movie. And he was right. … We have to all … in the Western world … think about this. You can actually … let … Christian symbols fall apart, but if you would do this with [an] Arab [Islamic] symbol, you would have … a fatwa, and that sounds a little bit like what the state of this world is. So it’s just something which I kind of didn’t [think] was [an] important element anyway in the film, so I kind of left it out.” |

Not PC... fear. Catholics won't cut your head off if you destroy the Vatican in your movie. (Oh, and the movie was silly as hell. Wait for Blu-Ray or the dollar matinee.) |

I'd pass on the movie just for that. |

I severely dislike Obama, but come on. |

I just think he's a horrible actor and there's the Chavez loving too. |

I saw it last night. And enjoyed it for the effects and fantasy teotwawki fun. It's a movie. It was entertaining. That's all I really need from it. The actors and acting wasn't Ten Commandments, but good enough. The black presidents portrayal shows a little bit of what people hoped Obungo might be as Deep Impact did, but just how much he is not and how much of a shitbag he basically is. |

Morgan Freeman/Denzel Washington 2012! I saw it today and the reviews were spot on. Really good special effects but the story line was cliche and predictable. Divorcee who's trying to be a good dad to his kids who happen to really like the mom's new boyfriend. Due to the disaster, the family grows closer because the dad keeps pulling heroic shit out of his ass and I'm sure you can guess the rest. There's a pilot who has only had "a couple of lessons" but handles a plane like he's the gay offspring of Maverick and Ice Man. There's plenty of countdowns to add drama and the scenes from Independence Day where the planes emerge safely from the giant cloud of fire that just engulfed the airstrip are repeated at least twice. There are a couple of VERY stereotypical Russians... seriously you expect them to whip out a fifth of Vodka and an AK47 at any moment just to complete the image. There are plenty of predictable lines. A pilot decides to go down with his plane and shouts back at the remaining passenger "what are you waiting for? get out of here!" How many times have we seen that exact scene play out in movies? Several of the scenes are bad enough to make you laugh. If the movie was condensed to one hour of pure carnage and epic disaster, it would be much better. They should have kept most of the side story out of it and just focused on the end of the world. |

Since the director is Jewish, was the Western Wall in Jerusalem destroyed? This is the most sacred site in Judaism. Or are only Christian sites worthy of destruction? |

The PC crap is sad to say the least but more is being made of this over the movie than I think warranted... It did not seem to be overt on any of the religious destruction. Merely recognisable sites to destroy to show that it was a world wide destruction... Prepper |
