For those of you who enjoy my photos, I thought I'd share here.

Well, it was my birthday yesturday, so with that in mind, and a good excuse, I went ahead and ordered a Nikon D600 Full Frame camera from B&H. I should have it in my hands Tuesday, just in time for my Yellowstone trip starting Thursday.

I was going to wait for more reviews, but I REALLY wanted this camera for the Yellowstone trip.

Right now I'll be using my Takumars with an adapter (I know there is a glass element in the adapter, but the Bower adapter has had excellent reviews). Once my bank account heals, I'll start saving for a couple of native Nikon mount lenses.

I really can't wait for it to arrive. I've never shot full frame before, except on film. Shooting with an uncropped sensor is going to be a very different.

Full frame, especially with a quality sensor, which the D600 has (2nd best in the world so far) is a HUGE step up from what I have been using.

Just hope I can do it justice.

P.S.  I guess I can be classified as a "pro" now  I sold 4 prints from my last hike.

If you sold stuff, time to write off your new purchase. Oh, Nikon sucks!

Yeah, I own my own business, and I do use my camera to take photos of finished work as well as for estimating, so it is a company expense all ready.

I'm probably going to bite the bullet and build a website for my photography as well.  I don't have an online presence for my photography yet, just my flickr page.

I'd like to start being more of a professional photographer, but my current company keeps me so busy, I don't know if I'd have the time for it.

I may just build an online shop for prints and only concentrate on photography like I do now, landscapes and wildlife.

I really have the FF bug as well but I don't think my skills (lack thereof) justify the cost to upgrade yet.  Still, I'm considering trying to sell my D7000 and grabbing the D600 anyway.  Please share your thoughts in the photography forum (easier to find vs GD) once you get your new toy!

Yeah, I've been using a Pentax Kx and a K20D.  Both are GREAT cameras, but I have been pushing the resolution on my landscapes.  Since I am starting to print, I wanted a higher resolution camera with a broader dynamic range.  The K20D probably would have been fine on smaller prints, but I didn't want to be limited on print size if I had someone that requested a larger size.

I made a post in the Photography subforum so it will be easier to find.  I'll update both this and that other thread when I receive the camera.

I am also going to be selling off my pentax gear so I can afford a couple of decent pro grade lenses.  I've always used manual focus prime lenses with my Pentax bodies, so I will probably stick with primes for the Nikon.  That will be more expensive in the long run, but it should provide for more quality images.   So I need the money that my old bodies/lenses will bring (the D600 body pretty much tapped out my discretionary funds )

Awesome!  Can't wait for some more great pics.

I just upgraded from my ancient D40x to a D5100.
