Damn, things have been horrible around the home front.  Sis-in-law is in her early 30's and been dealing with odd and end strange problems for several years that have gotten progressively worse including twitching when moving, strange spells where she shakes and drags one foot when walking & digestion problems/weight loss.  Doctors have been searching and testing and finally she found a specialist who slammed her with a battery of tests and determined she has Multiple Sclerosis.

No decent insurance, homemaker so no SS to fall back on, they are above the income of SSI, but barely making it by.  Big thing is because of crap insurance, they can't afford the treatments that help and/or keep her from getting worse.

That is a real shame.    My fiance has it and gets an infusion once a month in the doctors office.  The insurance pays for it but I hear that it is close to $5000 a month.  Before that i gave her an injection once a week (IM) and that was $1000 a month which insurance paid for.  So it came down to $250 per injection.  Tell her to check around we "donated" our remaining supply of injections(she had to be off them before she started the new stuff) to a group that provides them to lower income families.  Sorry, I do not know what the group name is it was handled by her MD office.  Can she get a script and mail it to canada to get filled?   Cheaper up ther and legal from what I know.  If I am wrong let me know.  The stuff that the fiance is on is called tysbri(?sp)  She says that it helps alont but toward infusion time she knows that it is time.  Mid 30's is when it hits. Usually people go temporarly blind.  Foot drag is a 2nd line sign.  Get a good neuro MD if she can.  Ours called another MD and ripped him a new cornhole when he could not get her spinal tap back a few years.  The office called to asked what happened, they said they almost had to hide under their desks the way he was carrying on.  He goes to bat for people he likes and do as he says( yes, he has a ego) but damn he is an egghead, he knows his shit and I like him.  Let me know if I can provide more info.

Hope this helps.

Damn.
I hate to hear of anyone getting MS. My dad has had it since 1979.

I am still worried about the wife some too.  She was tested before anyone knew about sis-in-law's troubles.  Wife is 33 years old.  Doctor tested wife because of frequent headaches that often no medicine will touch.  The big battery of tests found nothing out of the ordinary with her but with her sister having MS I am worried for the wife.

I have known the sis-in-law since she was 13 and this is breaking my heart.

Ask your Dr. about Tysabri. It's a drug my brother has been on for some time now. It's done wonders for my brothers MS.
