| Well it was alittle over a year ago that I bought my first AR. Well I believed the hype or I was just gullible and got a muzzle brake installed. Well now I have one with and one without and can say there is no problem without having one. I can only notice a nominal difference if at all with a muzzlebrake on recoil and second, third shots. However, if you ever happen to be in a situation with no ear protection, watchout!!!!!! The muzzlebraked AR is insanely loud!!!!! |

I agree that muzzle brakes on small caliber semi-autos are useless. However, my AK-74 didn't look "right" without one, and since it's only used as a fun range gun... When I asked my range buddies if they liked the AK-74 better with or without the brake, they replied unanimously: "WHAT?!?". [8D] |

It's been my experience from judging and scoring many action shoots, that muzzle brakes do indeed play a major role in who wins. Especially in among the shooters in the top 25% or so. Somebody who posted the results from the last Knob Creek shoot took notice of this too. The results were interesting..... I wonder if I can find that thread. |

Quoted: And if you remount the muzzle brake backwards it actually takes noise away completely! Dammit Pangea! Why in the hell would you let the cat out of the bag like that. Now the ATF is going to find out that this works, and it will be illegal to own these too. Smart enough to figure it out, dumb enough to blab it over the internet.... Geeeese.... [:D] |

Quoted: Mine came with one and I hate it! [:(] well if you hate it so much give it to me. I just dont think the gun looks right without something mounted on the end of the barrel. It looks very plain without it. BTW DVD where did you get that break it looks pretty cool. |

Quoted: When I shoot my DSA SA58 I make a point of apologizing ahead of time to anybody who is unlucky enough to be near me. This is the only gun I own that I wear both earplugs and muffs to shoot. I hear ya! I put a Smith Enterprises brake on my STG58. The next day I went outside & fired 3 quick rounds into the ground to see how much it reduced muzzle jump / perceived recoil. When I looked out to the road that runs in front of my house, a guy had stopped his old pickup truck and was walking around it, looking to see what in the hell had broken on his truck. LMAO!!! |

Tapco sells a sleeve that fit's over an AK styled Muzzle brake. I picked one up last week and tried it at the range this past Sunday. It worked out pretty good. Definitely wasn't as loud as without it, and no difference in Muzzle climb. Check it out for yourself. | If you want to clear the neighborhood out shoot a .50 BMG with the fishgill MB. Damn, is it loud. Plugs and muffs are mandatory, but it's still LOUD. Directing the gases backward at a 45o angle really cuts the recoil to less than a .308, but the price paid is noise. Ugly noise. Or cool noise, depending on your perspective. [}:D] |
