Just an update.
Headers, plugs and wires are installed. Harmonic balancer gets here today and I will get more stuff installed this week.

Only one of the plugs was a bugger to start and I don't recall which one it was. Every other one was fine. I think we are going 2.5" duals with an x pipe. We will have it custom bent locally. |

We worked on some engine bay wiring yesterday. My stepdad also got the transfer case bolted back in.
The new pulley kit came in and I was going to install the alternator but I noticed a bearing squeeze when I turned the pulley. So I guess I'll order a new one. Lol. Story of my life with this truck. |

Truck got loaded up on a roll back and is off to the exhaust shop this morning. I am going with 2.5" with flowmaster 40s.
I either pick it up tonight or tomorrow. |

I see the plug wires, what are you using for ignition system?
There's a lot of SBC threads this past few years and I can't keep up while some are finished and others picked full swap and others a rebuild. So plenty of variety, just lose track of who has what where. |

It makes it a lot easier to adjust the system without having to remove the cap, change springs, adjust timing, etc. Some people like to nerd out and constantly fine tune the motor. If you run poor fuel or a higher quality you can adjust for that too. You can also lock the system so the ignition doesn't work. |

I got the truck back from the exhaust shop yesterday. Man, it sounds sweet and is a hoot to drive around.
The exhaust shop owner said he thinks there is a miss in the engine. You can hear it sound a little rough at idle. I tried to adjust the carb and it helped but you can tell it needs some more adjusting. I also talked to the distributor manufacturer and he gave me some other adjustments to make. He wants me to burn off the old fuel , probably 87 octane, and put some fresh 91 in it. He said that may be some of the hesitation. |

I set it to 1 1/2 out on all idle mixture screws and ran the idle up to 1100 or so. Then I adjusted the screws one at a time till I got the maximum vacuum (14) then I backed the idle down a little. |

Is it the carb that came from BluePrint? My 383 came with a generic Holley carb and it is widely accepted to be a basketcase and not worth messing with. I monkeyed with mine a little but since I had a Sniper 2 sitting on the shelf I swapped it out (along with the Hyperspark distributor) and it's never ran better. Still tuning on it a bit, but so far it is really crisp.

That being said, I do not know what jets are installed in it. |

TTM, have you been through all of the tubing? A small vacuum leak of any kind will give you a miss.
