Not even sure this is the right forum. How do you get the TV to show a movie the way you saw it 40 years ago? Trying to watch Missing in Action on a Sony flat screen. But it is playing with a visual effect that makes it look modern, not grainy and tube TV like. I'm fucking losing it. It's like fast Action mode instead of low quality 80s. Yes, I am old. |
| If the motion looks unnatural like the TV is smoothing it (soap opera effect) that's motion interpolation. Check for a setting called "motion smoothing", "trumotion", "auto motion plus", or something along those lines and disable it. Every TV manufacturer calls it something different. |

Maybe it's motion smoothing? Look for a setting for "Motionflow" and see what happens if you turn it off and on.  Motion Smoothing: How To Turn It Off On Sony TVs If this doesn't help, you may need to provide more derails on the model and see if a real guru might be available. |

What is the tv brand and model? A lot of these newer tv's have a "judder reduction" setting that makes the motion look really weird when you're watching a movie. I hate it as it really screws with my eyes and equilibrium.
