My wife is continuing to tear apart the Chevelle front end. The deeper she goes the more she finds that needs fixed. Have a new core support, inner fender wells, core support mounts, screw set for the entire front end, and some misc stuff on the way. Attached File Attached File Finding stacks of taped together washers under all all of the body panels. Might have something to do with nothing lining up correctly  The front quarters have been replaced at some point and are in good shape. The inner fender wells are plastic and cracked all to hell. | Stacked washers is because they didn’t have body shims when they put it together. Keep track of where and how many were used. You need go get real shims and replace what they used as a starting point. Adjust as needed. We use to keep boxes of them around in the body shop. |

She's got a correct body shims on the way and wrote down how many came from where. With how bad the panels lined up before and replacing a bunch of body mounts I'm assuming we'll end up starting over on getting everything lined back up. |
Man the 1970 Chevelle ls6 is my dream car. I would want it in either Tuxedo black with white stripes or Astro blue with black stripes. I would probably accept anythign from 1968 to 1972 though. Love the A frame body.

I paid 350.00 for it from my neighbors . Her grandson was caught drag racing on the street and they thought it had a cracked block. I purchased it and a friend and I pushed it across the street. Next day we looked at it and it turned out it was just the freeze plugs had popped out. Spent maybe 10.00 fixing it then went cruising that night. I sold the car for a crap load more than I purchased it when I joined the army. I wish i had kept it. Looked pretty much like this one.

The engine is out of the Chevelle! Came out pretty easy. Now she is going to start cleaning the front end up and repainting. Also trying to decide how far she wants to go with the front suspension, steering and brakes. May just rebuild the factory original, may wind up going with tubular A arms, coil overs and a disc brake conversion Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Kinda forgot about this thread  Been a long year, finally getting back to it!Wife is finally getting back on the Chevelle, has a PILE of parts lined up to go on. This weekend she finished getting the front frame rails stripped down to bare metal and epoxy painted. Next up will be getting the Speedtech front suspension, Viking coil overs, and Wilwood brakes on. Need to get the lockup kit out in her trans then the engine and transmission should be ready to drop in.  Now the sad, and exciting part With everything going on, working OT, starting our own side business, and other house projects I decided I didn't really have time for my Mustang and it was going to be a looong time before I was gonna have it on the road so I decided to sell the project. Have I mentioned my wife is awesome? Because she is. Since I was kinda bummed about letting the Mustang go she suggested I buy a "new" Mustang, so off test driving we went  Looked hard at ordering a new GT or getting a Mach 1. Then we made the mistake of test driving a GT350...So now I have a GT350 to enjoy!    2017, 8,4XX miles, stock and unmolested except for a Ford Performance air filter and air/oil separators. It's going to get graphene coated, tint, stripes, and a resonator delete. Hoping to have the Chevelle back on the road in the next couple months, looking forward to doing some local car shows together this summer. Hope to have lots more pics and updates coming! |

Ther exists another classic mustang transformation thread. Engine came out tonight. Gonna spend a couple nights cleaning engine bay. Wish I bought a GT350 instead of my 2015 GT Perf Pack but ADMs were nuts in 2015. With luck my 66 should be able to embarass my 2015 Perf Pack. |

Finally got some time to work on the Chevelle. Got the Speedtech control arms mounted today. Hope to get the Viking coil overs on tomorrow night then onto the brakes and steering. Went on a 300 mile road trip to look at a puppy yesterday and took the GT350. Absolutely LOVE this car. Comfortable to cruise in, plenty of power and amazing handling. Wife didn't mind the straight line pulls but about lost her shit when I showed her how it could take some curves Hoping for a warm day this coming weekend so I can get the graphene coating on the car. Got a deal on some Steeda rear subframe supports as well. |

Got the coil overs in tonight. Still need to go back and torque everything now that we're sure everything fits up OK. She's currently trying to decide if she wants to paint the steering arms, "likes having a little bit of the old mixed in with the new"  . Caliper obviously has to come back off, just wanted to see how it looked.Plan on getting the new sway bar in, then rotors, brake lines, new master cylinder, steering, then close to dropping the engine in Slight improvement over the old manual drums      |

Finally back in this thread. Been a long year. Wife wound up having shoulder surgery last fall, I fucked up my back, and with winter it was too cold for her to work on it Spent a decent amount of time on the Chevelle yesterday. Engine and tranny are mated and in the car Went well, amazing how easy they go in when the entire front end is removed Tranny bolted up to the factory mount, going to have to drill some new holes where it bolts to the frame, good clearance with the tunnel.Going to start getting shit bolted onto the engine and hooked up then start re-assembling the whole front end. She's debating on Speedtech control arms and coil overs for the rear, may end up doing that. Attached File Attached File Also, no longer have the GT350 Wasn't driving it enough to justify having that much money sitting in the garage, so I traded it in on another Ford that I'm using MUCH more Attached File So far I've put a GooseTuned Stage 1 ECM and TCM tune in it. Made a huge difference, made it drive like it should have when it left the factory. Will be adding some IR A pillar lights and some fogs in the bumper. Long term will be adding eClik and Live Valve shocks. |

Decently productive day on the car. Transmission crossmember is in, had to drill one new hole on each side. All the accessories are mounted, need to pick up some V belts. Passenger side header is on, needs torqued down. One bolt is going to be a PITA. Starter is on as well. New main fuel line is here, need to get it in. New drive shaft is ordered, should be in this week. Does anyone have a recommended shift linkage for a 700R4 and column shifter? Was hoping to make the old one work, not happening.
