The local paper, Orange County Register ran an editorial about how the Supreme Court was evading ruling on the "under God" issue in the Pledge and how it puts everyone under a strain. I thought it was a good lead-in to the 2nd. "Your editorial complaint on the Supreme Court's evasion of ruling on "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance should extend to the Second Amendment and it's state of limbo for the past 70 years. The last ruling of substance was the Miller decision in 1939. One side (including the ACLU) claims the 2nd is a collective right, the other (NRA et al.) claims the 2nd is an individual right. Surely this right is of higher concern than any bickering over a non-Constitutional pledge that has been modified in the last 70 years. Their avoidance of the issue has created an abundance of laws that have done little for public safety and created a legal minefield for responsible gun owners. Biting the bullet seems to be a pledge the Court will not take." Sincerely nightstalker ar15.com |
