Yeah, you thought I would scamper away like a fart in the wind... I leave for Ft. Benning on the 16th for Basic Training---- Waka waka Time to put my money where my mouth is- I'm 30 and rolling in. While you may like me or not, is not my concern.... I am doing this at a ripe old age because of certain reasons: Piss on you mother fucking terorists.... Don't come to my house and expect dinner..... expect chicken fried kill you. 1: My Grandfather (WW2 Vet) at 85 is happy as a clam that I am doing this (at 30) Bless him. 2: COUNTRY 3: I need a new challenge 4. The right thing to do 5. The right thing to do So, I leave on the 16th. Ciao turkeys....... |

Quoted: Good luck! IF I don't get a job in 3 months, I may try to enlist again (rejected before, but I'll try my luck again). I am 31. Isn't that the max age for active duty? YES 31 is max age if your not prior enlisted. Sorry you were rejected before hope you can get in if that's what you want. COZ |

Quoted: Good luck and God Bless! What contract? 11x? Or are you Guard? Either way, let us know when you get back. Tim A-3-1, Ft. Benning, 1982 D-7-1 1983 (split option) 91 Whiskey I keep hearing hints of 18 something [:O] dunno about that fancy stuff... I'll see if I make it throught BCT. |

Quoted: 30 years old? Man you got some big ones doing what you're doing. I dont imagine it will be easy. Good luck. 30 isn't so old. In boot camp, there was a 30 year old in my platoon. From a barely 18 year old kids perspective, he was old. He looked old but it think he had just lived a hard 30 years. He made it through just fine. The Drill Instructors really didn't give him too much of a hard time. Maybe they figured it was the end of the line for him. Once I was in the fleet, I met a few other guys that signed up at 30. Now he would be over 50 and I'm not quite 40. The age difference doesn't seem so extreme from that perspective. But there is a huge difference between 18 and 30. |

Just so you know, I expect that you will have a platoon full of kids nearly half your age looking up to you as a father figure througout. When I went through at age 17 we had a 24 year old guy who we all listened to, just because he was more emotionally and psychologically mature than the rest of us combined. |
