Right after the panic started, I posed a question to several people "Could I put together an affordable AR15 during the panic". I said I would not buy a single part for a higher price than I would have paid a year or two ago. This is what I ended up with. $280 RedX Upper (16" stainless) $99 RedX BCG $150 Complete New Frontier Arms poly lower shipped ($20 FFL fee) $20 Cheap Charging handle $25 offset irons Total spent $594 (Yes, crappy cell photo). |

Quoted: Nice build! Especially during these times ![]() To finish it off i'm gonna throw on one of the low magnification scopes and likely freefloat the barrel. After those are added on , it will be around $675 or so I figure. The gun is immensely light. I'm shocked at how much weight the poly lower saves. Out of all of my ARs, this actually feels more solid than my previous, non poly lowers. There is absolutely no wiggle/wobble in the upper/lower. Quoted: So instead of paying inflated prices you simply went for substandard quality parts. Cool story bro. I know the lower is poly, and many people complain about them, but the upper seems to be top notch, fit & finish are great. Over the same time period I *Could* have put together a CMMG mid-length gun as well, but I'm holding on for the panic to subside so I can buy a 'premium' AR as my bedside/shtf gun. The idea I had on this build was a nice, kid friendly AR I can teach youth on. |
