I don't get it. I'm watching these cars going around in a circle, albiet, mighty fast, but unless they crash its awfully goddamn boring. And you can see all the crashes on the news. So please tell me why this is so frigging popular.

Pick 5 racers, bet money on them and suddenly it becomes mighty interesting. Dale Jr. Came up from 37th to finish 4th. Lets see any other form of racing do that. Oh, wait... CART/IRL/F1 only field 20 or so, rather than 43. More racers, less room, more passing, more passing, more passing, did I fail to mention passing? Yea, I can see how oval racing can be boring if you haven't picked anyone to cheer for.

True. I can't think of any sport teams that I root for. Now, I enjoy boxing over any other sport and always have ever since watching "The Gillette sp Cavalcade of Sports". Commonly referred to as the friday night fights. Goes way back to the 50s. Guess it was because my weekends were spent fishing and not watching football. Oh well, don't feel as tho I'm missing anything.

Drive fast, turn left. Yawn. Nascar sucks. I'd rather polish brass than waste my time with that crap.

Well, if you watch NASCAR for the crashes, then you are obviously watching for the wrong reason, as 99.9% of all NASCAR fans cringe when they see an accident, not cheer. In fact, I'm sure what you saw should have made it quite obvious that the drivers do everything they can to AVOID a wreck, not vice-versa.

That being said, I enjoy NASCAR because it has much more family-oriented than many sports. You don't really have to worry about explaining to your 8 year old, what a hooker is, and why their favorite player is in jail because. he slept with one. Nor do I have to explain why so-and-so does drugs if he is a super-star athlete and can score a billion points in a season.

Or maybe it's something like the Jeep slogan says: It's a NASCAR thing. You wouldn't understand.

My fav part of Nascar races, when it comes time to pit. I like watching the crews work and then shoving their cars back out. it gets all crazy as driver push to gain their posistion back. thats exciteing

The ONLY sports I get satifaction out of are boxing and UFC and its rare for me to even watch those. My main source of entertainment comes from news chanels or comedy central or even talk radio. Being 24 that makes me pretty messed up I guess. My married friend spends alot of his TV time watching MTV and FOX reality shows and also wrestling but thinks Im too political. I guess some of us have to do it.

Just caught the end of that race.  Man, that Marlboro car must have kicked some ass.  Sounds like it could use a bit of a tune-up, though.

The John Deere hats are definitely a nice touch :)

Edited to add: and that guy in the yellow shirt explains why NASCAR courses have the simple layout they do. "Oooooh, they drive in /circles/! I wondered how they never run out of cars. I think I get it now."
