Every time I read an ND thread I always wonder if the person keeps the gun chambered at all times or just when they need it or have been shooting.

Whenever I clean my guns I always check them because when I am not cleaning them there is always one in the chamber.  I know there is one in the chamber at all times so it really is impossible for me to think that when I start to clean a gun that it is empty.

Does keeping one in the chamber actually decrease your odds of " I thought it was empty"?  I think it does for me.

I think ND/AD's are the new way to grand those quick divorces.

"It... it... it just went off!"

I keep one in the tube at all times. The only time I ever drop the hammer is when I'm shooting at something, or when I triple check that it is unloaded. I have never had an ND.

I always keep a round chambered.

I got complacent.

I got shot.

Story?

I keep a round in the chamber of guns I carry on a daily basis, but not every gun I own.

The key is to not become complacent.  Rule #1  ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.

Everything Except  Rifles and shotguns that  I use for hunting are always loaded here.

rule number one is easy for me because all my guns are always loaded.  I treat other peoples guns the same way though.  Don't point at anything your not willing to put a hole in was the first thing I ever learned about guns.

I broke all four rules in seconds...

Check the chamber....then check it again.

Edit: I don't want to hijack the thread. I know I fucked up.  I've heard EVERY armchair commando lecture...trust me. Save it. Thank you.

I keep my duty and personal carry weapons loaded all the time.

The more you finger fuck a weapon or take it out of the leather, the better the chance for one to go off.

I've simulated an ND in my head so many times, im terrified of it.

There are certain guns I have that spend 99% of their life with a chambered round.  I also believe in dry firing a lot for training.
So far I havent messed up.

All the time in the ready; those in the vault are unloaded. Clearing, decocking, are done in a bedroom, where the mattress is.

Further, when we pass arms at work for review, they are passed with magazine dropped, action open. Passed to, passed back.

I do the same, I use my 2K latex mattress as an unloading station, no holes yet!

All my guns are always loaded unless they're being cleaned or worked on. And I always treat all of them as loaded, even when they're not, because they, from a safety perspective, are.
