| Does anyone have a link to the laws that are going into effect in 2010? Our instructor mentioned them a few min ago in class and I'm curious whats included. |

Opens as a PDF "In 2009, the NREMT posted information about a transition to a new system of levels for emergency care providers developed by the NHTSA with the National Scope of Practice project. By 2014, these "new" levels will replace the fragmented system found around the United States. The new classification will include emergency medical responder (replacing first responder), emergency medical technician (replacing EMT-Basic), advanced emergency medical technician (replacing EMT-Intermediate 1985), and paramedic (replacing EMT-intermediate 1999 and EMT-paramedic)." |

Quoted: I was looking at the rules regarding ambulance marking. Supposedly we will be required to have chevrons on the back, much like this: http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/images/1174000153322_uofe3.jpg Sorry, I wasn't specific before. We aren't supposed to be on computers during class. ![]() Oh! Well we've both learned something. I'm having a seizure just looking at that pattern btw. I hope that's like NIMS and is just a guideline/suggestion. |

From what he said that and some other stuff like the reflective safety vests will be required by 2010 when the new regulations go into effect. The downside was, he didn't mention where to find them. I guess it depends on what you cover in your area bc its my understanding that if you don't go on a federally funded road then the vests aren't required so the chevrons might not be too. And when I say "required" I mean its a $10k fine for each person who doesn't wear it (supposedly). |

I thought the vest requirement started 1/09. We carry them in the ambulance right now and we are suppose to use them on accidents. Although only a few of us do. 10k for per violation? Thats insane
10k Putting chevrons on the back of the ambulances will be a bitch though. |

The other part he was saying is that they don't need to be there for it just need to see something like a photo in the paper. I need to find this stuff somewhere. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
