Tragic, and unfortunate.  I hope the guy that did it rots in jail, and he most likely will.

That said, I question why people even vacation in Mexico these days - some would argue with me - but it is a dangerous place (I lived and worked there for a few years recently).  And secondly, I question the wisdom of a female to be naked in an elevator and talking with a stranger in a 3rd world country.  It will be interesting to see what really happened there.

So, was she really naked in the elevator? Did I read that right?

Nothing in this story makes any sense. Why did he beat her face in?
Why was she naked on an elevator? Why was he given press time to talk?
Crazy story from the get go.

That's what I read.  If she was, that was a dumb move on her part.  I mean, wouldn't it be great if we could all walk around naked in bad parts of the world and never fear becoming a victim of a crime?  While holding onto such an ideal seems great in theory, reality will bear out that it is probably not the best or safest  idea.

Been followingh this since it happened and there are a ton of things which don't make sense.

Why was she in the elevator at 3.30 AM?  Why did her husband not know where she was until 6.00 AM when he went looking for her? Why did the hotel staff not tell him what happened right away?
The Naked allagation just came out ... would not surprise me if it wasn't true. Perp says he only hit her a couple of times, yet he broke every bone in the face.
Mexican cover-up to support their tourist industry wouldn't surprise me.
