Exactly.  The amount of time since we've had radio signals going into space is barely measurable.  The amount of time we've been able to look for signals from other worlds is much less even.  The odds of us being here still when another similarly advanced civilization receives anything we've beamed out are practically zero.  40,000 light years isn't really very far away, but if light is as fast as it gets, its far enough.

This is assuming what we know of astrophysics to be true and complete, which isn't the case at all.  But we are probably hundreds of years of concentrated study away from anything resembling travel outside our own solar system, assuming we could straighten out the mess we have on earth on concentrate our energies on such travel.  Humans either need to be able to digitize ourselves into machines with infinite life spans, or need to medically stop the ageing process.  Those are the technologies that have a shot at getting us off this rock.  Either way, gone is gone.  Even at 99% of light speed, you aren't going, and coming back, not to anything like the Earth you left.

I do think that we will try to terraform mars though, probably within 100 years.

They aren't aliens they are demons been here since they got kicked out of Heaven they have been living deep underground in a place called Hell.
They have been communicating with and taking over human beings for eons..recorded in the bible.
They are the agents of the chief of all liars what Jesus called "a murder and a liar and the father of it".
If they could find enough suckers in high places and convince them that they are "aliens" from another planet here to give power away...well naturally
they'd tailor the con to the present era and culture.
In olden times they were animal spirit gods now they are creatures from another galaxy....the long con.

Automobiles, jets, TV, etc didn't violate laws of physics and/or require infinite amounts of energy.  Huge difference.

The OP says that.  not the Article.

Nasa partner Robert Bigelow says he is 'absolutely convinced' aliens are currently living on Earth

One of Nasa’s partners has said that he is “absolutely convinced” aliens exist – and that they are living on Earth right now.

Robert Bigelow, an entrepreneur who is working closely with Nasa on future
space missions, has suggested that he knows that our planet has an alien
presence that is “right under our noses”.
***
“I’m absolutely convinced [that aliens exist],” he told reporter Lara Logan. “That’s all there is to it.”

Asked by Ms Logan whether he also thought that UFOs had come to Earth, he said he did.

“There has been and is an existing presence, an ET presence,” Mr Bigelow said.
“And I spent millions and millions and millions – I probably spent more
as an individual than anybody else in the United States has ever spent
on this subject.”

Ms Logan then asked if Mr Bigelow thought it was “risky” to say that he believes such things. He said that he doesn't
care what people think because it wouldn't “change the reality of what I
know”.
He does not elaborate on the subject, but what is intriguing here is that he is a NASA insider what could he be
privy too that has him so convinced?

OH MY FUCKIN' GAWD! How much idiocy can one fucking GD thread fucking contain? Shit a damn fucking brick are some people here so fucking tacticool that they have no fudd enough to understand the habits of a fucking deer? Like hell, who still thinks that your fucking scent will cause a doe to fucking abandon her fawn? HELL NO! It is the fucking fact that she cannot fucking find her fawn because some fucking fucker fuckin' made off with her fucking fawn while she was out fucking foraging! Here is a fucking fact for all you fucking fuckers that think any fucking fawn which they fucking find is abandoned: Does fucking hide their fawns to keep fuckers like you from fucking finding them, and then they take their own scent away but nearfuckingby so no fucking predator will fucking find their fucking fawn! She might fucking have had another fucking fawn hidden nearby too. Yes! This is fucking right! A doe will hide here fucking fawns separately while she fucking beds nearby. That fucking doe was probably watching your fucking ass carry away her fucking fawn as her fucking heart fucking shattered at the loss of her fucking fawn. It is fucking absolutely fucking ridiculous that you would think that the fucking doe which you fucking saw dead by the fucking road a whole fucking two days prior had anything to do with the fucking situation you created except to give your fucking ignorant ass some fucking justification within your fucking fucked up head that the fucking ignorant act you fucking committed was somehow fucking noble. Next time you fucking find a fucking fawn LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE AND GO AWAY! This way the fucking doe will come back and take her fucking fawn some fucking where else where some fucking fuck up won't fuck up her shit. SHEEEESH what a bunch of fuck!

Ok, sorry, rant over. I feel better now.

Tavel to Mars and set up camps...yes. Terraform...not likely. Realistic estimates suggest about 40,000 years to truly terraform the planet and manufacture an atmosphere that could potentially support human life.

Eh, even if they could just get it up to where it was reasonable pressure mostly co2, then you could walk around on the surface with nothing more complicated than an oxygen mask and cold weather gear.

Needs a magnetosphere first, tho.

Yep... except for the magnetosphere part.  Yes you need one if you want to maintain an atmosphere for a very very long time... like millions of years.  But if you just want to get started and maintain it for a few hundred thousand years until you find a way to make a magnetosphere... then No you don't need one to do that.

He's right!

The Invaders. Alien beings from a dying planet. Their destination, the earth. Their purpose, to make it their world. Robert Bigelow has seen them....
Now, Robert Bigelow knows that the Invaders are here. That they have taken human form. Somehow he must convince a disbelieving world that the nightmare has already begun.

Regarding the magnetosphere, some of the information I had listened to suggested heating up the core somehow in order to elicit a molten, spinning metallic substrate. No clue if it's even possible or if it would work, but there are definitely folks out there scheming for 'building' self sustaining gravity. Pretty futuristic and speculative....but interesting.
