So my friends and I were talking about fleet exercises and wargames and an interesting question came up.  How do fleets score weapon hits and damage?  It not like you have all electronic tracking to mark each main gun round that hits and where.  We couldn't Ser a nation actually launching million(s) dollar missiles at each other that were dummies.  Even then how would the score if the anti missile systems actually stopped a missile or if the missile got through.

Its not like infantry Sarbanes w MILES gear or munitions.  Its not like armor battles with laser designator or fighters with gun and missile cams.  So how does a navy wargame figure if a weapon hits, where it hits and if it got through.  Or does the USN actually have a laser network for their ships that can score naval gunfire.  Doesn't even have to be modern navy.  Example how do we know that the new Jersey guns actually hit a moving vessel during a wargame post ww2 or that a pre ww1 ship got a hit during a wargame.

Thanks for any ideas.
