The bottom is rusting out of my Recteq Bullseye, so it's time for a new smoker. I've been happy with the Bullseye, but it wasn't really ideal for what I wanted so wanting something different. I have a Weber Genesis propane grill, so I'm looking for more of a pure smoker this time around. What's a good pellet smoker in the sub $1000 range? Ideally closer to $500. I don't need anything much bigger than the Bullseye. |

How old is your Reqteq? The body is made of stainless steel so it should not be rusting. I also have a Bullseye I bought in 2021 and it's kicking along just fine. Are you letting water inside the body? Honestly, I'd recommend Reqteq again for the quality. The next step up from there is Yoder and that's a big price jump. Traeger used to be a lot better but their quality has sharply declined since they started offshoring it. Reqteqs are foreign-made too, but they seem to give more of a shit about their QC and seemingly hold their mfgs to task. |
