Hey fellas, I am organizing a special event in the Owensboro, Ky area and I am in need of some extra RSOs. Does anyone know if there is a list that exists somewhere where I might be able to find local RSOs/Instructors? Much appreciated!

What kind of event?  If it's associated with a specific discipline or group like NRA, USPSA or First Shots that'll help decide what kind of RSO's you need.

ETA - A generic NRA RSO would be just fine for First Shots or a BSA event but would not do well at an outlaw 3 gun match.

The event is called "Take a Kid Outdoors" and is put on by the local parks dept. I am the range owner and on the planning board. The shooting portion is fairly straightforward, the kids are going to shoot 22 rifles and also sporting clays.

As a long time RSO I can tell you it is not cool to admit on Arfcom that your a RSO.
I made that mistake years ago and will never do it again.
Oh crap, I just did it didn't I?

Meh, fuck the haters! I'm an RSO and love it, but I'm not a range nazi.

I was shopping with my (then) 4-year old daughter when someone ran up to me screaming "You fucking range Nazi!" at the top of their lungs.

I calmly asked the guy if I'd EVER wronged him or gave him grief and he said no, he just recognized me from the range. I asked him if he thought dropping f- bombs in front of a little kid was cool (this guy was in his late fifties, a NY transplant to Florida. He apologized to me and my daughter.

Anyway, CSB. If I wasn't back in school full-time I'd volunteer and bring a few guns. Thanks for supporting youth firearm sports !

We do have a few Range Nazi's on our squad,
any complaints and they get a talking to,  out of 40 it is a really good bunch.
I enjoy it.

In that case I'd hit up every shooting club like USPSA & IDPA in your area for their RO's plus figure out how to get hold of NRA instructors in the area.  Most of those types should be more than happy to help out.  Every single guy on the line does not have to be an RSO for the event to be safe but a general understanding of how to handle folks with loaded guns is important.

Years ago I ran a First Shots program at the range I help run and had to rely on a mixed bag of instructors and just members to run the lines.  It went OK but having some kind of actual experience running shooters vs. just going shooting was worlds better.  We had about 200 shooters going from shotguns to rifles to handguns over a 8 hour day.  It was fun and without serious safety problems but more experienced RO's of any kind would have been better.

Here's the 25 (and closer) yard firing line for anything rimfire and centerfire handguns.

Here's the "long distance" 100 yard firing line for centerfire rifles.

Contact the Redbrush range in Newburg. They should be able to at least point you in the right direction.
