OK guys I have an older Whirlpool fridge and freezer (ED25DQ). I came home today to find that the fridge door was slightly ajar with the light on inside. It's been pretty warm in the house the last few days as well.

Well I don't seem to be getting much airflow into the fridge, but the freezer is ice ice cold. I tried taking a hair dryer to the vent in the top of the fridge to see if it was iced up. It appeared to be a little, but not much. I've cleaned the coils(figured it wasn't it, but it needed it anyway). I don't believe I've heard the condenser pump on at all since I got home.

Just wondering what's next before a call into a repair guy.

Thanks alot guys........ i need to hang in here more as i have soooooo many projects to do..... like refinishing the hardwood upstairs. The hardest part is moving all my crap out. 3 bedrooms/hallway/living room and dining room..... lot's-o-crap.

Anyway......
thanks a head of time,

Nox

Replace it.  If it's more than a few years old, repairing it is a waste of time IMO.  You can buy an Energy Star rated one for not a lot of money.  I put an Energy Star rated one in my new house.  It's a Whirlpool side by side.  It's the stainless model and I paid less than $900 for it.  The white or black ones are even less.

I bought mine at Lowes.  Get their mover coupon and save 10%.

For the cost of a repair, you'll be close to getting a new one.  Plus if you repair it, you'll still have an old refrigerator.

Hi,
Forgive me if I say anything wrong.
The good seal refrigerator is designed for last long around 15 years unless you are getting a cheap one. With taking a good general care of it : cleaning up the condenser coil.............and everything is working normal, your E.bill doesn't go up.

I don't got enough Input, but According to your post, I guess
Make sure the door shut tight, take bub lights out,if every thing's working fine, and the door   has problem with closing by itself tight, replace the door seal by your self, it cost you around $50. The light stays on will prevent the fridge from getting cold.

Even your house is warm not crazy hot, it won't effect the fridge from getting cold.
It is normal if " It appeared to be a little, but not much iced up" because it 'snot in Def Cl yet.
