Yes we still use VCRs.

Both of my Wife's VCRs need cleaning. Is there anything we could buy to clean the heads? Can I just pop the cover and run alcohol over the heads?

Thanks

My need is a little more urgent. The "Imperial Red Headed Scorpio" needs to watch her bad TV.  She gets pretty grumpy and demanding when the ion bombardment device isn't working.
I suggested she get off the couch and clean up the place, but that was met with typical Red Headed Scorpio profanity and threats of bodily harm.

Her VCRs are causing snow on playback. My VCR in the other room plays the same tapes back fine. I'm guessing the heads on her VCRs are dirty from running tens of thousands of miles of tape through them.

Found this online.

She's insisting her VCR's get cleaned today. I think she's having withdrawals from not watching CSI Miami and America's Top Model . And I'm running out of earplugs.

You could try the alcohol Q-tip approach.  I have done it before. You could also try fiddling with the tracking just in case that is the problem.

You could buy the Imperial Redheaded Scorpio a combo vcr/dvd recorder. Put all your tapes on DVD. I have seen some under $100.00.  I am sure that course of action would present you in good light to the Imperial court.

She has a standard VCR and a DVD/VCR combo. At times, she issues an Imperial Declaration and confiscates my VCR if she needs three VCRs in the same night.

I'm considering revamping one of my computers to work as a DVR, but that's another post for another time.
