I want to buy a bench-top buffing machine. I want to have a grinder option. Do they all have this option? Can I just remove the spinner wheels?

A decent polishing setup requires atleast a 3/4 hp. motor in my opinion and will have extended shafts. My 3/4 hp Baldor will grab a piece out of your hand in a heart beat and shoot it across the room  Polishing setups don''t have any resst on then like you have with a grinder motor setup. I am sure you can mount a wire wheel on one or a stone but I would be scared that the work would grab and pull my hand into it.

I have polished with smaller motor setups and they aren't worth the time if you want to atleast try enjoy polishing if that is even possible. LOL!

If you want to really polish, get the right setup and then for the wire wheel/stone setup, just go and get a cheapy setup that is dedicated for just that operation.

Just my 2 pennies.

What ^^^ he said.  They are very similar, but different enough to not overlap in function.
