I do not know much about the AR, but is a CMMG a good "brand"?  I have heard about some of the other big guys like DPMS, Rock River, and Armalite, but what about CMMG?

I have never owned one but from what I hear they are good.

ETA: In before if it's not a Colt or LMT it's junk crowd.

Never bought their stuff yet, but they are active members here, seem like good people, and I have heard good things about their products.

Welcome to the site!

CMMG is one of the best brands out there, IMO.  They build high quality rifles, and have outstanding customer service.

However, as a relatively new manufacturer of AR rifles, they do not have the size or history of larger companies like Bushmaster or Colt or other big players in the AR market.  That's not a negative - you might think of them almost more of a small "custom" shop than a big brand.

Thanks. Looking to pick one up next week.  Trying out their $620 A4 model that they are advertising on their site, so I just wanted to see what others have run into.

Anyone else have a thought?

Out of all the manufactures CMMG has the most options (gas blocks, rail systems, flash hiders/ brakes, VLTOR, Daniel Defense, Troy industries, LaRue) that they install at the factory making it easier to get exactly what you want.

Stop tormenting yourself.

Just buy a Colt.

Another excellent choice.  You really cannot go wrong with Colt.

Good question I couldn't find any AR on their website for less than $900.

I don't know where they are lsited on the website, but CMMG regularly has realtively inexpensive rifles in their "bargain bin".

I'm not sure those rifles are 100% CMMG parts, but from what I can tell, people have been very happy with those rifles.

The bargain bin is where I found the rifle.  I thought of getting a Colt, but my fundage is limited and the wife is unaware of the purchase.  Yeah, the money is mine but I really don't want to have THAT conversation if I do not have to.

By the way, who is "Doublestar"?  (My screen name really does exemplify my knowledge of these things.)
