My laptop is an Aspire 5251-1513 with AMD processor and Windows 7 operating system. I've been using it for a couple of months, and somehow picked up a virus or some kind of malware. Funny thing is, this computer has seen zero porn and no music downloads, but suddenly became infected this evening. The alert I am receiving is "Rogue malware found...spyware, keyloggers, or Trojans may be working...etc", and the computer is forcing me to download/purchase "Win 7 Total Security" before I can even access the internet.
I've tried IE, but it keeps prompting me with three options: 1. Get a copy of WIn 7 Total Security to safeguard PC while surfing the web (recommended) 2. Run spyware, virus, and malware scan 3. Continue surfing without any security measures (dangerous) The Win 7 scan is reporting "27 infections found" when I click the 2nd option. Clicking the 1st option forwards me to a screen where I can purchase Win 7 total security, and the 3rd option keeps prompting me back to the Internet Explorer alert. I can't get to google or any other site to download a malware or virus sweep, and I am trapped by the Win 7 screen. What can I do to fix my problems that doesn't require me buying a $60 Win 7 program? |
| Ok, I've tried pressing the F8 key while the computer is rebooting to get into "Safe Mode", but it isn't working. I have also tried going through the Run screen and typing "msconfig" to do it that way, but my computer is responding "windows cannot find C:\windows\system32\msconfig.exe". What next? |

Burn this
http://www.avg.com/ww-en/avg-rescue-cd to a cd if you know how to make an iso, or download it to a flash drive. the cd way is the easiest if you don't know how to tell your computer to boot from a usb device. leave your ethernet cord plugged in. reboot see what it finds. the fact that it won't let you boot into safe mode tells you that you have problems. |

I had to download both programs off the link to a thumbdrive, then load them on my laptop. Its working much better now, so I plan on running both programs on my desktop as well! |

Run It will fix you right up. Jason, get this. It will most likely fix your problem. If IE won't let you download it, just download it to another machine, and copy it over with a flash drive, then install and run it. Don't update the AV sig yet, more on that in a minute. Once installed, there are three options on the Scanner tab: quick scan (takes about 10 min), full scan (will take awhile), flash scan (scans flash memory). Just do the quick scan, and don't worry about updating the AV signature yet, let the scanner run first and quarantine anything obvious, then go back and update the AV sigs, then run the quick scan again. Should indeed fix you right up. ETA - maybe I should read the entire thread before responding... |
